Why wasn’t our game against Aberdeen rearranged for this midweek?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lennon did not want the game as he feels that we have enough fixtures this month already and he wanted the week to prep for the cup final

see if plays brown and that over turnbull and soro and we lose btw.
f...ed either way. if he does and we lose then he's blown another treble.
If we do then he will think it a revival and play them the next game, Christie can continue with phish corners and brown can contribute f... all.

I think Gerrard got his team selection all wrong last night.
Zungu and Bassey were brought in I guess because they played against falkirk and did well enough.
Zungu looks a good player but he wasnt the player we needed last night. He is neat and tidy on the ball with a good range of passing. But the pitch was so congested in front of him it wasnt the game for a passer from deep.
Bassey is a young promising player who just had a bad night.
Starting Aribo on the left puzzled me slightly. Keeping him there absolutely baffled me. He was always wanting to cut in on his right foot and kept running into a crowd of players.
St Mirren were well organised, had a game plan and stuck to it. They go their goals at absolutely the right time and the night couldnt have went any better for them.
It wasnt a terrible performance by us - we should really have been going in at half time a couple of goals up. They got a pen out of nothing just before half time and their dressing room must have been buzzing at that.
Hopefully it was just one of those nights where things didnt go our way.
I am not buying this whole idea that we bottled it at all. If anything SG took them too lightly.
If winning the cup was an absolute priority we should have started with our strongest team and brought on Zungu and Bassey etc for the last half hour when things were comfortable.
We were going to lose at some point. I am not completely surprised it was last night although I didnt think the game would pan out exactly as it did. I had feared a penalty win for st mirren.
Lennon did not want the game as he feels that we have enough fixtures this month already and he wanted the week to prep for the cup final
silly
This game is just a blip for Rangers. A bad result and a careless performance but I don't think it will have any effect on them long term.
However it might have an effect on their opponents. Rangers were starting to get a look of invincibility. Indeed certain respected observers like Kris Boyd and Barry Ferguson had already started to talk about an invincible season.
There's no doubt that would have strengthened if it had continued for a bit longer. Teams might be a little less fearful now.
That might also work in Rangers' favour of course.

I'm not so sure, could lose and go into final on a "low", or it's another game to pick up the covid.
Plenty of time for games to be played I think it was a decent shout
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. And if they seriously plan to strengthen in January then its better playing the game after.

It took a while for teams to figure out how to stop Rodgers Celtic team but once they did we started to rely on the quality of player rather than the tactical aspect.
Teams know to sit in against Celtic these days to stop us when it is Christie and Brown then they just mark out Eddie.
Last night was the first time I have seen Rangers getting blocked out.
Kent was screaming for a penalty which for me tells you everything you need to know about his plan. He was barely on the ground and was already point to the 18 yard line to say he was on it. He wanted a touch to get a foul. Free kicks around the box, corners and penalties have become a speciality for Rangers this season.

There is a relatively straight forward method of countering the Free kicks and Penalties thing and having done your badge i thought you'd know it.
Don't foul them in or around the box

an often overlooked tactic
We were poor all over the park yesterday and again down our left side of defence like Saturday atTannadice.
I thought McGregor was poor at the Dundee Utd goal and I don't think he covered himself in glory at the third last night. This is what cost us
We still scored 2 goals although we were honking and 2 away goals at St Mirren should have been more than enough to go through.

I agree that Rangers have been much better this season at capitalising on opponents fouling them. Tavs free kicks and pens have been great and Goldson is attacking the ball with a lot more intent going forward.
