And rightly so. Agree with Orta that if we can avoid doing business in January we should
The system and style of play works when we are in attacking mode but if you think the system works for defensive purposes I think you need to rethink and not be so categorical...if players are so often out of position, from man marking, leaving us consistently exposed to fast counter attacking and our goals against tally doesn't improve, which will in turn drop points....then something tactically will have to change.
If we don't improve defensively then in my opinion we will lose more than we win or draw.....and I am categorical about that!
I also take issue with your opinion of "now we are playing better stuff, winning more points, in a division higher"
Really! I still think our record in higher division is pretty patchy, inconsistent, we play badly in successive games then hit a high spot with a good win...the win last night feels very familiar to the Villa game when we won 3 nil....followed by a bad run of points, let's hope for better this time but I wouldn't put money on it, not with this defence strategy.

You are a clown. The majority of this Leeds team were fighting relegation in the championships and had 30 managers sacked before Bielsa.
Let's wait and see what he can do when he has more quality at his disposal in the team.
Morning all๐๐.
Ok, to answer Faith’s original question, I do agree that, as you posit, “there is no change to the system/style of play that could get more out of this squad.”
However, I think there is individual improvement to come. In the same way that our pre-Bielsa players have hugely improved, I think we’re set for a performance bonus from our summer signings that we haven’t nearly seen the best of yet. All bodes well for the rest of the season.
Just to add another thought, because of my view above, I wouldn’t be too fussed if we didn’t sign anyone in January (injuries notwithstanding). I’d rather us stick with what we’ve got, improve, and then strengthen next summer.
Oh, and stick a man on each post at corners!
Have a good day all๐๐๐๐
For me it’s not a question of our style of play - we all agree it’s something to behold and don’t want it any other way.... my problem is how naive we are sometimes; examples
Giving stupid free kicks near our box
Philips dreadful corner yesterday when we are 2-1 and it’s back to 2-2
When we were 3-2 up ball went out of play and Rodrigo runs to touch line and gives ball to their keeper - WTF
You are an idiot, worse than a clown....Bielsa is a great coach, no question, but he's not God....but you are a fool!
Most coaches/managers who have achieved success base their strategies on strong defence then go forward, they make sure their defence is first priority.
Man City with Vincent Kompany and Liverpool with
Virgil van Dijk have used dominant players in defence as the base of their recent success.
Leeds based their successes on Don Revie's philosophy of strong and dominant players.
Bielsa appears to put emphasis on attack rather than defence, if he does that and it works then great!

You may take issue with my comment NJS but the fact is that the season before Bielsa we averaged 1.3 points per game in the Championship. This season we are currently averaging 1.3 point per game in the Premiership with the majority of the same players. So not really sure how you can come to the conclusion that the system is not getting a lot more out of the players.
You may not like it but the facts are that it is quite clearly much more effective than any other style tried before. Styles you seem to be advocating. Yes we have faults. But a lot of that is down to the fact that we are using players that could only finish bottom half of the Championship to achieve the same in the Premiership against World Class players.
Of course we will lose many more games this season. But there is zero evidence to suggest that another system would change that. And plenty of evidence to suggest that another system would mean we win a lot less games.
No one is denying we have problems. But to focus too much on fixing them would come at great expense and cost us so many points and almost certainly relegate us.

Agreed. Our system isn’t perfect but for our players and Bielsa it’s the only way to play.
If we can cut out the silly mistakes like we made for both their goals last night then we will be fine this season.
Contrary to all the “experts” insisting we will run out of steam, I think we will just get stronger. The main worry is the size and quality of the first team squad.
I just think anyone who wants to see changes has never understood the manager,
We were supposed to run out of steam when the Corona break stopped our Championship run, we were on a winning streak and people said it wouldn't last!..
After the break we came back and lost to was it Cardiff?..
If it hadn't have been for the break the run we were on we could have won every game till the end, I don't think the furtige thing people are always on about would have done anything!..
As for this season, less games so shouldn't be a problem!..
Reading the thread think the track has been lost a little!
Regarding the style, it’s amazing, the football is slimiest fantasy at times.. what comes with this, is risk - thing is, it’s not changing, and I don’t want it to either! Would of taken this during the league 1 days all day long.. my thought chain is enjoy it now, the good, the bad, and the mouth watering.. because when it’s not here, we will wish it was.
Will this style win titles.?. I don’t think so, sorry, maybe wrong, but title winning teams build from a solid defensive unit, incorporating their style.. as NJS rightly points out, kompany, VVD etc... those alone didn’t make them successful, they simply completed the defensive unit.
That said, again I couldn’t care less! I’m just enjoying the ride, would I want Jose in charge if it meant winning the league? No!
Ref fitness! Said many times on here previously, we do “burn out”.. but again it’s all part of it, you can’t expect the same intensity through the whole season, sports science is sports science, humans are humans, many of you lot know me that’s my thing, I train hard, and im rugby league coach.. but please don’t take my word for it, google “rest periods, over training or whatever and see for yourself....
Again, couldn’t care less, our style is what we are and it brilliant to watch and experience... think back to the dark days, enjoy it, and hopefully in 5 years time we’ll be well established in the PL, with all the nucleus we need to push on!

It’s basically one game a week though apart from Xmas and Easter. We might get a cup run but even if we do he will rotate the team I think.
We might have the odd game where we are tired but compared to most teams I think we will cope well.
Stoops, I don’t mean amount of games, more how they train.. long continuous week after week at such high intensity.. at some point, the human body needs to rest!!
It’s actually the reason they are so fit too btw...
I’d suggest the training does it, looking at how Bielsa teams do fade seems to back that up.
Perhaps we should all vote, so we know where we stand: do you want a forum where it's a cosy Leeds fans 'love in' intolerant of opposing opinions that the majority don't share?
Or a forum where football opinions other than exclusively Leeds fans opinions are tolerated even if you don't agree with them?
An example is my opinions come in for abuse as does Lowfields and The Donn...just because a majority don't like their opinions it doesn't mean they're entitled to the shameful and unnecessary abuse they receive, it's pathetic!
You read on this forum quite often the same tired old cliches if you don't agree with someones categorical opinion, here's a selection: "you don't go to matches"
"Why don't you go back to reading teletext".
"why don't you support another club?" "You must be blind if you don't enjoy how we play" well reading the forum when we win, everyone's enjoying the way we play....but I don't read all this stuff when we lose, or lose badly....dare I say there won't be much enjoyment of how we play if we are near the relegation zone, you can stick that "enjoying the way we play" right up your 'arris.
Faith, maybe you should delete posts that disagree with your opinions and themes....give a warning "anyone who disagrees with my opinions shall be deleted!" Because as I've found out it just encourages those that think this is exclusively the Leeds United Cosy Club.
Some on here need to be on tranquillisers, if they're not already, a different opinion to theirs seems to send them into an uncontrollable abuse mode, have they tried an anger management course?!
Read my lips THIS IS A FORUM for football opinion not to get off on personal abuse if someone disagrees with your opinion.

We all know we don’t score enough from the situations we create. So let’s go for tactics that would mean even less goals.
We all know we are poor from set pieces, so let change tactics to one, where we are more likely to have more set pieces against us.
It’s utter madness.
Let tell the players, the last three years we have been teaching you and training you is, wrong and we are going to change tactics. Really.
Anyone who enjoying and loving the way we play football, are either blind, aren’t watching games, or a stubborn old kant, who can’t admit they got it badly wrong, about a multiple of things, including bamford, and throwing teddies about.
It ain’t champ manager lads
