I'm alright with it. The club (probably) know he's Uruguayan, and could maybe work out that it's a word Uruguayans use if anyone in charge remembers the Suarez carry on. Maybe someone should have mentioned it.
Zero tolerance for me, but that's just my opinion. Take our medicine and move on.

Do you want the FA to be the arbiters or that though? They couldn't find their arrse in a dark room with both hands.
With zero tolerance it's just removing any grey area, and the onus is on the clubs to make players understand that.

It will be interesting to see how the F.A came to their conclusion. 3 weeks is a long time, it must have been incredibly in depth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well they will be working from home so that 3 weeks is made up of 14 days of nudging their mouses every few minutes to appear online, and one day of work when they panic and realise they have a deadline, so they could have been up all night working on the case, credit to them.

equally, if it's possible to accept a charge and receive the punishment at the same time, i'd be tempted to call the FA immediately, ole apparently said he's unlikely to be ready for today's match, he'd then miss one PL match and a carabao cup game, then come back from suspension fully fit.

Yes the club might have foreseen this but jesus someone posts a word that means essentially the same as sweetheart or darling to them in their own language and we’re going to dictate that it’s actually offensive?
It’s ridiculous and just yet another example of where this PC world is heading.
It’s as if context has no meaning anymore.
When you are talking to a friend and say ‘oh fk off u cvnt’ or talking to a stranger and say ‘oh fk off u cvnt’ it’s totally different.
I mean he’s not going to give abuse to a fan congratulating him.
He’s taken down the tweet, apologise if it offended anyone and won’t do it again.

You need some new material. Wasn't funny 5 years ago.
My biggest issue with this is nothing to do with football or the person involved but that I don't think I've seen anyone disagree that there was no malice and it's a cultural issue which he'll know now moving forward, but that as a society we are moving into a space where we accept that it's not just 'ok' but correct to punish someone in these circumstances.
Common sense gone completely out of the window. It's going to be so much worse in another ten years and then ten more after that. It doesn't combat anything, it doesn't help battle any discrimination at all. If anything it equips already ignorant people with things to use as things to push their agenda and confuses people in the middle.
This does absolutely nothing to educate people and eradicate discrimination.
So basically what the FA is saying is that you are prohibited from using your own language in a way that is perfectly acceptable if there’s more than one possible translation of what you said and one of those translations can be used as a slur in a completely different context from the one you used it in.
Not only is it ridiculous, it’s downright discriminatory. If I was found to be the guilty party I would absolutely be on the phone to my lawyers to explore the possibility of suing the FA for damages to my reputation and for preventing from me from freely exercising my profession.

Take the ban now while he’s out. Accept the charge immediately. Absolutely no point him getting fit then taking the ban.
No point trying to fight the FA, Silva case is precedence. Early guilty plea hope for a one match, no harm done.
