I’ll even do one better...

Nobody was willing to rearrange our League Cup match last year when we were also playing in the World Club Cup the next day. BUT, we still fielded a squad for the League Cup match.

City should be forced to forfeit. Simple.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was your clubs decision to play in that tournament and the league cup is governed by a different body than the Premier league you fookwitt

City should be forced to forfeit considering they asked for a postponement despite having the ability to suit 14 players for the match.

A champions league club with all of those players and they can’t field a full squad? So what if a couple of your players are scrubs.

Liverpool have had a million injuries and covid infections and we still played matches with a depleted squad.

unless you're talking about liverpool employees then that isn't true

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Correction, nobody in the EFL couldn’t come up with a solution other than for us to field a completely different team because they weren’t going to allow us to play a match in one round during the same time as a later round. So, in a way, we were forced to just accept the outcome.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You do know that the EFL don't run the EPL don't you.So why are you biitching about a cup that is run by a different organization.

The Member Clubs of the Premier League
The Premier League is a private company wholly owned by its 20 Member Clubs who make up the League at any one time.

Each individual club is independent, working within the rules of football, as defined by the Premier League, The FA, UEFA and FIFA, as well as being subject to English and European law.

Each of the 20 clubs are a Shareholder in the Premier League. Consultation is at the heart of the Premier League and Shareholder meetings are the ultimate decision-making forum for Premier League policy and are held at regular intervals during the course of the season.

Oh boo hoo.

How much £££ did it take to persuade the PL to let you sissies reschedule because two players came down with the sniffles?

I’m not talking about the PL during what happened last year between THE LEAGUE CUP and the WCC.

The overall point was that Liverpool had a large enough pool of players to fulfill two matches within hours of each other.

Two City players get sick and they want to postpone.

Replace the damn players and get on with it or you are forced to forfeit. It’s that simple.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
not same situation.

also have too deal with curtailing spread of Covid.

u heard of Covid?

its a big deal lately.

They got beat 6-0 by a Villa side that were bottom of the league, are you really going to go down this route.

Klopp has no interest in domestic cups so he was happy to go along with the LFC tradition of playing the victim

Just a PR exercise. Show me proof that the EFL gave a credible suggestion and we rejected it.

However my source points out how they wanted the League Cup to maintain credibility which is code for “we don’t want to reschedule to give anyone an advantage”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
your article says:

Liverpool will play two cup competitions on two continents in less than 24 hours next month after the EFL agreed to their [ie liverpool's]request to stage the Carabao Cup quarter-final at Aston Villa as originally scheduled.

Liverpool have since requested the game at Villa Park takes place as planned on Tuesday 17 December

So you got exactly what you wanted!

Wheres the logic in that? the fixtures still have to be played and probably during the CL restarting and fa cup?

Anyway hope City recover from the virus, its unfortunate theres been so many theyve had to request to postpone. It certainly isnt an advantage gained in my eyes, the fixture still has to be squeezed in somewhere. Be interesting to see how many were out, and why it wasnt worth just getting it out the way with a weaker team?

City do have previous, remember them calling off a game cause it was a bit windy? then numerous games in cities that had higher winds played their games? They like to bring it up Klopp complaining about the weather yet hes never had a game called off cause of it.

Anyway no qualms my end about it.

And yet you still had to get the “city have previous” in about a game the manager wanted to play and actually added to fixture congestion, it was the police and the safety officer that called off the game you’re talking about.

Kudos for your overall point though, shame about the non sequitur.

Seems the sensible decision was made IMO. Can't take the risk if you're not sure who could be infected.

Hopefully City will be able to field a healthy side asap.

Spurs got a by in the Carabao cup when Leyton Orient pulled out due to a covid outbreak.

Will be interesting to see what happens now that a richer minnow is involved.
