I knew who you meant, just thought I'd throw a curveball into that logic to make that statement not true.

Fernandes has scored 15 and missed 1 penalty in 11 months for Utd.

Its taken Harry Kane since the 4th Feb 2018 to amass that many pens for Spurs - 35 months.

Do you think Utd would have got this one.....

https://twitter.com/SkySportsPL/status/1281278490197872640

----------------------------------------------------------------------

So you think there have been no scenarios where a challenge looked like a pen but didn't get it?

And no scenarios where Spurs got a soft pen?

We can both take individual incidents, can't we? It's meaningless.

In 2016/17, Spurs received 9 pens and United just 4.

I think rival fans need to suck it up and stop moaning on about some historical bitterness regarding United, which is plainly what it is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We're not talking about 4 years ago. We're talking about the unprecedented amount of pens Utd have had over the last year or so. 14 in one EPL season is a record and the run continues this season too, and at OGSs time at Utd they had 42 compared to Klopps 20 for example (and they have Salah and the famous Anfield sniper).

looks like the leicester and palace chairmen have been greasing a few palms too:

It’s just Klopp trying to deflect from his teams recent dismal form
You’d want to talk about something else too if you’re club had picked up 2 points from 9

Unprecedented?

We haven't even got the most this season ffs.

You're taking one period of time to prove a point, so why can't I do the same?

If you genuinely believe there's an issue here then I can only pity you... it's genuinely pathetic.

No one ever details the bad decisions, just the volume of decisions.

I'll go first -

Fernandes vs Aston Villa last season, definitely not a penalty.

Handball in Parc de Princes the season before, shocking decision, definitely not a penalty for me.

Pogba vs Villa this season - debatable, no consensus as to whether it was or wasn't, even in the media

Everything else has merit as far as I can see.

There's just no logic to any of it.

I'm not sure if I'm more bemused by the questioning of the data or the implication that United are favoured.

I mean, last season was the first time we received more than 6 penalties in a season since 2011/12.

What is it about Man Utd that makes grown adults lose all control of their senses? Have they ruined their life that badly?

United got 14 last season, and 12 the year before that. 26 in 2 seasons.

Next closest Man City with 15. You have nearly 75% more.

Nice try though!

over this season, and the last 1 and 5 years, leicester have the most PL penalties, but i guess if you slice and dice your stats finely enough you can show whatever you want to show.

But they're meaningless numbers without context. What % of these were incorrectly given due to whatever reason you've concocted? If you let us know which ones, even better.

Otherwise all you're proving is that we get fouled in the box a lot.

Sorry, the site I was using was wrong for the year before last.

So, that mean what exactly?

That refs were favouring us for those two seasons but not for the previous six seasons?

What about when a different team got 13 in one season and we only got three... was that the refs favouring a different club?

Come on... I’m all ears for you to explain what you think is happening and why this bias or corruption or whatever it is only lasts for a season or two.

Good luck with that.

It means you had 75% more penalties than the next closest team in the last season and a half.

Its not an isolated incident, its a pattern. To achieve this you need to get the benefit of teh doubt more often than not. I'd say the marginal calls have largely gone in your favour. Just like the Pogba vs Mane pen claims in the last week You got the benefit, LFC didnt.

Its not an accusation of cheating, more that you are getting the rub of the green. To consistently get 1:5 goals a season in pens, over 2.5 seasons, is quite something. It would be like LFC getting 43 in that period and i am sure Utd and other fans would also be crying foul if this was the case.

Equivalent for spurs would be 32 pens. We've had 13 and i can think of numerous occasions where the rub of the green has not gone with us, as well as some blatantly bad decisions, like the link i put above vs Bounremouth

posted on 5/1/21

Okay Devonshire, so what about the pattern of the six years prior to that?

And if it’s simply the rub of the green / luck, then what’s your point?

Sometimes teams get lucky and sometimes they don’t?

In other news, man lands on moon.

actually in the last season and a half we have had 20, leicester 17 = 18% difference.

i guess leicester getting more penalties than anyone over the past 5 1/2 season - 17% more than united - is similarly green-rubbing?

posted on 5/1/21

A quick glance suggests that in the last 10 seasons, Spurs and United are 5-5 in terms of who had the most pens that season.

See, we can all identify patterns.

The PSG one, from what I read, was a penalty by the letter of the law.

The PSG one had me moaning about VAR and Liverpool fans arguing why it was a penalty!

posted on 5/1/21

Time for another stat for Devonshire.

Between seasons 15/16 and 17/18, Spurs had 17 penalties to United’s 10.

That’s 70% more.

We need to talk about this.
