Nope. Kicking the ball like that is a yellow EVERYTIME. Even if it were a yellow like 50% of the time, Rice should have never put himself in that position. He was a facking idiot.

Don't know the incident you refer to. Would depend on the timing of kicking the ball. The circumstances in which Rice kicked away the ball after a free kick had been awarded to Brighton, that is very frequently punished with a card.

I understand its the rule, but it was hardly a kick away, he barely poked it. Ref should be applying common sense there with the player on a yellow that could have just been a warning for Rice, but this stupid Ref wanted to be petty...
