So the 2 defenders that could lock up Salah next week are both injured.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If everyone was fit for that game I would have played Tomiyasu and Timber as the full backs

Looks like Saka isnt in the squad today according to twitter rumours.

Hope they are wrong but if he isn't being risked creativity will be an issue. Need for others to step up

Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Rice, Partey, Merino, Sterling, Trossard, Havertz.
Subs: Setford, Kiwior, Zinchenko, Lewis-Skelly, Jorginho, Nwaneri, Martinelli, Jesus, Kabia.

Zinchenko being back more than makes up for the loss of Saka.

Looks like 4-1-4-1 with Merino in Odegaards role.

Sterling madness?

The midfield looks very workmanlike , not necessarily a bad thing when your away from home. Would like to think Nwaneri plays a role at some point.

Sucks that Sakas out but good that even then Jesus is benched

Gabriel Magalhaes captains #AFC today.

So obviously Saka was a hammy - 2 weeks so hopefully will be back for Liverpool. Carsley did us a favour with the misinformation.

yeah looks like one built for possession. Using sterling and trossard in the old city like formation.

Damn......that's a team of plodders we're putting out there. Where's the creativity supposed to come from?

Seeing as our Fabio Viera gamble failed (I hope whoever the moron scout who recommended him is has been sacked) and no one else was coming in in those attacking positions, we might as well have kept ESR.

Won’t be surprised if we approach this like Spurs/City and let them have the ball

Who has the speed to counter if that was the aim?

It's Bournemouth we're playing. Why would we let them have the ball?

They put out enough smoke to make it sound anything but.

I disagree with Bats but you literally just said we put out a team of plodders. Make your mind up

Having a very expensive flop like Jesus stinking up the team weekly winds me up. This guy earns almost 300k a week to deliver worse performances than Chamakh and Bendtner. Also sucks that we never profited from the Saudi money laundering operation that many clubs profited from. The caants wouldn't take any player off our hands. Hope Jesus can go there soon and we can at least free up his wages.

Where's teh contradiction there? I meant we put out a very uninspiring team without any creativity, but I still fully expect us to control the flow of the game. I don't expect us to surrender territory and possession like we did away to City and Spurs - because it's Bournemouth.

What about Merino? He's supposed to have creativity.

Bournemouth aren't far off Spurs IMO

Bournemouth are a well coached team, but I don't think they have the individual quality of the Spurs side.
