I’m not sure which way the title is going tbh. Should’ve been a season where we win on a canter given the circumstances around others. But it’s gonna be a dog fight till the end.

Merino doesn't look much different to Jorginho, average at best.

Didn't think he was that bad got on the ball showed some nice touches and to be honest no one is as slow as Jorginho.

Don't think there's much between the two in terms of pace.

These international breaks are a joke as well, every month for the first three months of the season, all for money money money and Saka / Rice being run in to the ground by twatish managers.
Hope more fans will stop watching / boycott England games to send a message, that's what I'm doing.

But he's what, 28? He's used to slower paced La Liga.

Not a bad player but don't think he was what we needed to upgrade midfield and not convinced he can adapt to PL speed at his age.

I think Arteta wanted someone who was like Xhaka but could score more goals/create. Merino fits that in Spain. Rice has shown he can't really do that very well. So when we couldn't get Guimares level player at DM I think they plan to put Rice back where he feels comfortable in DM and use Merino to close players down and create in the final third. But he had no preseason and then got injured.

Yeah I thought similar in terms of moving Rice back. I'm not seeing much in terms of attacking play from Merino though he looks more defensive so far to me.

We'll see, obviously not going to write him off immediately but I am concerned he will just be a very mediocre signing.

I'm more annoyed about the rest of what we did/ didn't do in the summer. Sterling & no striker / good backup for Saka.
