merry what are you on about. Our performances have deserved better results hence why we dominated expected goals in nearly every game we played for last few months.

How we had higher expected goals in 9 of last 10 games and the other one was close to a draw.

One goal against the big six in the league so far isn't it?

Yeah, and we most 6-1. Tbh having watched those games our xG is probably minus 2

Also Sheffield United scored an illegal goal while we scored a fair goal but they disallowed the fair goal and allowed the illegal goal. Also some reason they allowed that offside Sheffield United chance in the 1st half in XG. The away winning run ended in our of our most dominant away games of the season.

You're half right. Either you disallow both goals in that game or disallow neither

Not a fan of xG.

Who's doing the expecting? On top of that I would expect Messi to finish better than Andy Carroll so unless they have a separate algorithm for each player it's utter bollox.

That big game record this season is poor. We played better last season with facking Lingard and Pereira playing ffs.

We deserved to beat Leicester City but 2 sitters missed by Rashford cost us. Fernandes and Pogba missed 2 easy chances against Liverpool. Today Cavani has 2 sitters. Common theme in those games is we were the ones to create the big chances and miss them. The opposition didn’t create a single big chnace in any of those 3 games we failed to win.

That's always my issue with it. It doesn't take into account the quality of the finisher or goalkeeper. Like, you guys consistently get about 15 goals above xG per season. That's not through coincidence or luck. It's because you have quality attacking players who are significantly more likely to score than someone like Joelinton

posted on 30/1/21

It doesn’t take into account the quality of the keeper either.

Welbeck one on one with Allison isn’t the same as Harry Kane one on one with Kepa.

Our record at the Emirates is embarrassing. We regularly miss sitters there. The thing is when we go the emirates we usually have that ground as the one we create a lot in but rarely score. Its so strange really.

What makes you think everybody likes the way Liverpool play?

A lot of people aren’t massive fans of Liverpool’s style of play nowadays. Especially since they’ve become cross merchants.

No of course not. The comments made by hamsters.
Any reason to think the people on here aren't representative?

The key word there was some, not all, which was my point.

I think it’s been even worse this season, as it’s just not clicking in other phases of play like it did before.

Will be interesting to see what Klopp does in the coming years to change things up. Freshening the attacking and using a more creative midfield is probably a good way forward I reckon.

It’s hard to maintain the player’s interest when they’re doing the same thing over and over again.

I take your point but a lot of that is down to injuries. Klopp tends to change something in the set up each season and we've seen him employ a front four with everyone fit. Attacks are coming more centrally now too rather than spamming crosses. We've still played some nice stuff at times though fif sure.

I think we'll see something similar to when he first arrived and we had coutinho. Keita is much maligned on here but he adds a dimension to our transitions which works (his win percentage when playing is mental). Ox can do that too although technically isn't as proficient and more about power to break the lines.

The issue you’ve got now is you’ve got players that are good enough to win a lot of games and the style in itself
is mostly effective so it’s something you’re just going to have to accept for a while before anything changes I think. Even more so as it’s Solksjaer.

posted on 30/1/21

Problem is those players can’t be relied upon. I do reckon shaking up the front three will come in the next couple of years. It’s rare a front three stays together that long and remains successful. I did read Klopp plans to rebuild the team so that it’s in good shape for the next manager.

melton, you’re probably right, though it remains to be seen how effective it is. There’s been small margins that have decided a lot of our games this season. We could actually be top if more of them had gone our way. But we could also be in the bottom half had they not, and that’s not an exaggeration.

Which shows the performances really aren’t good enough. My worry is that even if we manage to get top four, the club won’t recognise these problems and address the managerial position.

That’s with me looking at it from the perspective of the team actually progressing. I just cannot take another year of shiiiiit football.

I think the second paragraph is interesting. If you look at the end of season league tables, the end position of a team very rarely deviates by more than one or two positions, relative to their goal difference ranking. Our current goal difference of plus 10 is the joint 6th best in the division and is indicative of the manner in which we've been scraping through games

posted on 31/1/21

No, and that’s what I mean that you’re going to have to accept it for a while. It’s effective enough that it’s going to keep getting at least enough results to keep Solksjaer in the role for a while, even more so than others because it’s him too. It’s not going to change until you change him, so you’re in that awkward situation of, if you don’t like watching it, honestly wanting results but not.

’ve had it a few times - I’ve actually wanted us to lose in order to accelerate a change as ultimately, it’s only that or a personality clash that ever really does it. The problem is I don’t see you losing enough because of the squad you’ve now got and Solksjaer is beige enough he’s not going to kick up any fuss either.

Best not to think about it I don’t think!

merry, this season resembles Mourinho second season quite a bit. Though we’ve not had to rely on De Gea being an alien like that year to get points.

melts, yeah I’m at the stage where it’s probably better for us to drop out of the top four so that he’s sacked. But as was mentioned earlier, Woodward doesn’t exactly fill you with hope they’ll he appoint someone that will bring the entertainment we really miss.

My suspicion is that he’d appoint Allegri. He’ll surely be looking at the calibre of coaches at the top teams in the prem and looking at bringing in someone with similar, or better, credentials.
