If we have no European football next year then players will leave and we will not be able to compete enough for European football, no manager has 5 years to rebuild any team, its not how football works now

Maybe not but in this case in order to be able to be in Europe on this basis our club has to spend every year and on quality.
So either its a 3 year project with arteta who is building up our youth and we show patience or we spend money we haven't got or money that kroenke won't spend

Still not answering the question. What do we do if after this 3 years "project", we are in a worse place than now which going by our results over the past 18 months, it is totally possible?
I'm not asking him to be sacked btw, I just want to know what is everyone's contingency plan?

I believe that Artetas job should be reviewed frequently so that we can cut the project short if it really isn't working but we should still show patience and don't rush into anything. I know to some entitled fans they dont accept any period of poor form.
If Arteta is sacked then we will need to hire an experienced manager but we should look at someone who has the same mindset as Arteta. Someone who is willing to play a similar style so that a complete overhaul of the squad isnt needed again but also someone who can implement it better than Arteta did.
Preferably would like to avoid changing managers mid season

It was Ozil who bottled 4th place (3rd and 4th in fact), not the manager who was finally forced to play him due to injury taking out the player who'd gotten us there (with help). That was pretty much a "Manager, team and Ramsey had done all they could do" scenario and with 7 to go it was on Ozil to just perform for 2 of them...and he fecked us and his teammates. Emery's only real mistake, was listening to numpty fans at the start of last season and putting Ozil back in to keep on feckin us and him. He should have just trusted his first instinct and benched him as he had the season before. He'd still have a job at AFC.
I have no faith in him currently. Nearly all of Arteta's problems this season, have been problems of his own making. Normally I could forgive that since that's generally the case with most any rookie in any field, mistakes are usually made in abundance when you don't know sh !t. That in itself isn't a problem it's part and parcel of a career. The problem comes when you have a rookie who doesn't know sh !t, reckoning he knows it flippin all and there's nobody whom can tell him anything.
Because that is a a character who either simply won't learn from his/her mistakes or will always take a ridiculous and unnecessary amount of time to do so after doubling down several times. Can't really afford either in PL football. First half of this season is a prime example. 14 PL wasted, when it was clear as early as 4 in that his tactical plan was useless. A more humble man would have changed things far faster. Inexperienced, arrogant and stubborn is a bad combo anywhere but it's potentially disastrous for a PL manager.
I won't say Arteta can't turn it around and go on to become a good, even great manager. The player I remember certainly looked to have that potential easily. But I will say that cannot happen until he learns to remind himself he doesn't know sh !t, loses the "Big I am" attitude he hasn't got the trophies to back up, becomes less rigid in his thinking and most of all, starts showing his goddamn players some respect and treating them all fairly. As yet, I've not seen anything to indicate that's beginning to happen so I reckon we're absolutely stuffed for now. It's a case of "How bad will the damage get before he learns or is sacked?" Whichever comes first.
For the record all, I would rather see him learn. Was always keen on his appointment since I based my judgement on the player I remember. So far he's let me down bigtime. And I swear it's just this persona he's come with. Mikel Arteta the player was a nice guy, Arteta the manager is a feckin tool. It's as though he hung up his playing boots, done his badges and told himself in the mirror "You are a manager now, no more mister nice guy, you have to be a complete ass or the players won't respect you." He can be the decent guy he was as a player and still get respect as a manager. Soon as he figures that out and stops being such a d! ck, he'll be fine.
