He’s struggled this season. You can see teams are targeting him as he’s not very aware of what’s going on around him. One on one he’s still excellent, but he needs to improve other areas to become a more well rounded full back. Particularly heading, or more so in judging the flight of the ball, he’s really bad at this.
As for Maguire being worse at heading.

Was hardly an easy header to make yesterday and albeit wasn't the best of headers his teammates should not have let Saint Maximan have that much space in the box. He is 3rd in the league in aerial battles won which pretty much makes your argument look even more ridiculous
---
Again.
No point winning an aerial battle if the ball falls to the opposition's feet
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So he made one poor header. Who hasn't ever done that. Doesn't make him a worse header of the ball. Any comment on him being 3rd best for aerial duels in the league or did you conveniently miss that point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, I didn't miss it but as I said there is no point winning an aerial duel if the ball goes back to the opposition, which with Maguire... happens quite a bit.
To add to that, his offensive heading is not very good, you're either on the wum or need your eyesight checked.
People complain about Rashfords finishing, well Maguire needs about 20 headers to score one goal and for someone with renowned ability with his head, it's pretty shiet especially when quite a few of the chances he has missed have not been difficult at all.
If Maguire had Cavani's heading ability, he'd have about 15 goals this season.
Keep banging on about your aerial duels won though.........
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not strictly true though, winning the second ball is a very common requirement. When teams play really direct, they don't rely on one guy who wins everything and gets great accuracy in heading it off to a team mate, they are hoofing it up top with the idea he'll win the header and allow them to compete for the second ball.
I wouldn't particularly blame Maguire for last night's header. The ball looped in from an unusual angle and he didn't have time to adjust, couldn't just leave it, so had to stretch for it, which made it impossible to control where it ended up.
Maguire's serious weakness is vulnerability when exposed against pace. His heading is one of his strengths, and an area where he's one of the best defenders in the league.
Is there anything about United you like OP? The colour of the shirts perhaps, the quality of the catering.
Because you don't like the players, Martial, AWB, Maguire, and a special mention of Rashford who gets more than his fair share of dislike. Not the manager obviously.
Is it perhaps the club shop? Anything à all?

The cross was high and slow.
Look at that and tell me it was difficult to adjust...... Perhaps for Harry yes, because he's a massive slow, heavy lump.
It was awful from both Maguire and De Gea actually.

I've had another look. Still think it was a bit of an odd trajectory, Maguire was backpedalling, yes, could have done better in getting into the right position faster, but I think he was fooled by the looping nature of the ball (actually not a great cross). I also think we defended badly as a team there: rubbish at closing down and thus allowing the cross, to closing down when the ball drops from Maguire's header.
Whatever you think about the header itself, it seems inapt to generalise about his heading overall being a liability, when the evidence suggests it's a relative strength.
I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how anyone can think AWB is better at heading than Maguire. I know Greg has a history of talking absolute shiiiiiit, but this is still bewildering.
It was a brilliant finish by Saint-Maximin as well, it's not often an absolutely perfect finish like that gets applied to a loose ball dropping out of the air. Hats off to him.
He is poverty going forward, which is a requirement in the modern day game. It is indeed that black and white. In my opinion, any defender that needs to slide as much as he does is a poor defender.
But he’s really good at it. That’s what makes it so hard to get past him one on one. If a player does manage it they can still be in trouble once he gets back and takes the ball off them. A lot of full backs don’t have that capability.

He does it sometimes when he can simply nick the ball and get us going again. Instead we are under pressure because the ball has gone out for a throw in
Not that often. He slides in when the opposition has the run on him. His timing with them is excellent. Other full backs wouldn’t get the block or tackle in and then they’re relying on others to deal with the cross. He has weaknesses as a defender, which is unsurprising given he’s not played that many matches. But he’s clearly not a poor defender, and using one of his attributes that he’s bloody good at as a reasoning to say he is is daft.

We're all entitled to a dodgy opinion or two.
Awb doesn't head the ball that often, so it's more difficult to judge a guy that heads the ball less than once a game.
When you see a guy that heads a ball 20 times a game, and 15 of them are absolute pony, it's a bit more easy to make an opinion.
The fact he heads the fecking ball so often should mean he gets better at it, but he gets worse each game I watch him.
You can all feck off with your stats about winning aerial duels as well.
If you're 6'4 and weigh 100 kilos, you're gonna win a lot of fecking aerial duels, even if you're absolute dogsh!t at football. Just because he wins a lot of duels, it does not mean he's fecking good at heading the ball.
It would literally not make a blind bit of difference if he didn't win these aerial duels, because we barely retain the ball after it hits his huge head anyway.
Some people have stats so far up their bumholes, they'll believe anything, even going as far as to say Maguire is one of the best defenders in the PL
We are, but you continually talk absolute shiiiiiit about football. But this one is particularly ridiculous.
AWB doesn’t head the ball very often because he’s shiiiiiit in the air. Winning the ball in the air is obviously one of the key traits in being good in the air ffs. Especially when defending. That United are poor at winning second balls is the fault of the other players, not Maguire.
There’s a lot things wrong with Maguire, but his heading is not one of them.
Another rash defender I recall who frequently slid in to win the ball due to poor positioning was Paolo Gashdini
