Its fine if that's how you want to go about it. As I said, whilst you wanted Ole and replaced with Poch (along with Robb) it had some merit behind it even though you wanted a man to replace a guy that was above him in the league and sacked)
But this Brighton drum is spectacular

In fairness, Brighton do play some really good stuff and would be in a much better position if they weren't so incredibly wasteful.
Odd to compare their football to ours though. If teams set out against us like they do against Brighton we would hit 4 or 5 each week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, this.
There aren’t many teams that play us home or away that set up aiming to do anything more than contain and counter.
Sociedad last week was a pretty good example of what happens when we have the kind of space to play in that Brighton get most weeks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This isn’t really true, though. We’ve played loads of sides that leave us space and will take the initiative and push up and put pressure on us higher up the pitch. It’s why we’ve concerned so many goals in the first half of games when teams attack us. It’s a myth that teams just park the bus against us.
Brighton also have to face teams that deny them space because of their style of football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It isn’t any kind of myth. I’m not saying that it happens every week; I’m saying it’s most weeks, which it is in the league.
Some teams come out and press us hard early on because we’ve demonstrated that we’re vulnerable under those conditions. They’ll then disappear back into their shells.
Others come and press us hard all game, of course.
It’s still most weeks that we’re trying to unpick low blocks though now.

But most of the teams in the bottom half do it by default now, as well as the likes of West Ham, who even did it at home against us in Dec.
I just don’t think it’s as you say. Especially when you compare it to what other top teams face. We get left quite a lot of space as we have weaknesses that can, and are, exploited so often. They’ll defend more against us than Brighton, sure, but that’s not the main reason for their football being better than ours. What they do in the build up is amazing when you consider their players. Bissouma is the only one in that team that a top team would sign. Maybe Lamptey. We’ve got vastly superior players and yet cannot play football like they do.

I wasn’t commenting on the quality of Brighton’s football. I don’t watch them enough to comment, to be honest. Only on what we’re facing now.
I mean, I do wonder how some of these managers who play great attacking football but are without the experience of setting up so often against brick walls might fare as United boss though. Bielsa, for example. I wonder if he’s never gone to a top club anywhere because he doesn’t want the pressure or constraints on the football that it brings.
Not that the Glazers or Ed would ever worry about such minor details.
Wahl, anyone who was having a go at Mourinho was spot on. Barring his honeymoon period he was dreadful at United. I actually feel quite sorry for Spurs supporters, all they've got to look forward to now is his usual endgame where he loses his marbles and ruins them. It'll be a great day when he fecks off and sticks to punditry, where at least he's fairly entertaining.
Depends on the coach, I suppose. There will be many that have to face that challenge, but there’s far more to coaching at the highest level, with the biggest clubs, than just facing teams sitting deep. Bielsa’s a curious case, I think his demanding personality is the biggest obstacle. He won’t get the control he wants at the biggest clubs. I think that’s why it’s never happened. He doesn’t want that and they don’t want his volatile personality. Would be fun to see what he could do with really top players.
Talking of Mourinho he is lucky Spurs have massively exceeded there expected goals for and against this season and when he came last season. So Mourinho has them incredibly efficient. Crazy that Brighton expected points is higher than Leicester City and they are 23 points behind them when they should be 1 point clear of them.
Its funny Mourinho is supposedly making fans think Lloris look at fault when he is single handedly keeping Mourinho in a job. If we had someone like Lloris this season we might be neck and neck with Man City.
Man Utd expected points is 43.43 while Brighton is 41.62. Also refs have cost us a lot more expected points by not getting the correct decisions.

I have concerns about Ole and United as I have stated in previous threads, but honestly reading some of the posters on here you would think we were sitting mid table and struggling. We are 2nd in the league and have lost once in the last 20 games. I think we have lost 4 games in the last year or something like that. Yes there are issues and improvements can be made and yes we have dropped silly points recently but ffs lads some of you either don’t have a clue about football or are constantly on the WUM. Either way, lockdown has been the worst thing to happen to sites like this IMO.

Not sure it does. They're two different sets of circumstances. The criticism Ole's getting isn't because his football's defensive, boring, negative and worse than going to the dentist, it's because people don't see the team developing into challengers under him due to his perceived shortcomings as a coach. It's a philosophy vs ability argument. Mourinho is very competent at killing any joy you used to take out of football, Ole's got the best intentions but not seen as a coach that can implement them.
Surely even a half-wit like you has worked that out?
Yeah I’m aware of that. It’s clearly got risks, like most coaches we could get. I just would prefer him to Ole due to the style of football. I think it’s bloody impressive what he’s managed to do with these Brighton players. They really would be up near the top if they had competent forwards.
Plus it’s not like this is a club that is competing at the very top, with the very best players in world football and the egos that come with that. It’s an easier place for a lesser established coach to come into than say, a Real Madrid or PSG. But even considering this, Real Madrid and Barca have had plenty of coaches without stellar reputations that have won things despite those dressing room issues. Luis Enrique and Frank Rijkaard are CL winners ffs.

There's a lot to like about Brighton, but I have no idea if Potter could take over United the way he'd need to, or if he'd end up a rabbit in the headlights like Moyes. If it was 2009 we'd all be raving about Villas-Boas at Porto, you never know how a change of club is going to work out.

That makes two of you
It's such a weird view that a side who are much lower in the league table than another can't play football that's more aesthetically pleasing. It's a really simplistic way of looking at things.
Since Fergie left our U18s and reserves have generally been much more pleasant to watch than the first team have yet there's no comparison in quality or level.
As for the OP, we could go back and talk about when you said Bruno didn't have much to his game other than a decent shot or when you said our squad was Championship level before Bruno arrived or your previous article claiming the squad we have now isn't a top six squad.
Yeah I do know. But I thought it’d be worth a try to see if he’d improved any of his cognitive abilities. It would appear not.

Oh yeah, of course there’s a lot more to it.
I’m not doing Potter down here at all, or commenting on his suitability, but managing a top club like United is a completely different job to managing Brighton for many, many different reasons.

There's a lot to like about Brighton, but I have no idea if Potter could take over United the way he'd need to, or if he'd end up a rabbit in the headlights like Moyes. If it was 2009 we'd all be raving about Villas-Boas at Porto, you never know how a change of club is going to work out.

But I’ve told you numerous times I didn’t want Poch. So why do you keep repeating this lie. It’s like talking to a child.
