I have always been under the principle that once a certain amount of people have been vaccinated, then it should be deemed fairly safe around people.
For instance, once we reach a 40 million vaccination point, assuming that most of the 20 million or so remaining people are at "less risk" than the 40 million already vaccinated, surely we would get to a point where most places would be deemed safe?

Had my first on Thursday. Not felt great since but that may be down to already having Covid judging by what I am reading. Felt rough a month or two ago, flu like for a few days.

Had my first jab about 6 weeks ago. No side effects other than a sore arm for 24 hours - just like the flu vaccine

I agree BUT This doesn’t really make any sense though. The vaccine is 100% effective at preventing us getting serious COVID or dying, basically at preventing us getting anything more than a sniffle.
So why does it matter if others spread It?
I could understand if this was like the flu vaccine (which is pretty pointless) as the flu vaccine is only 40% - 60% effective but this vaccine is 100% effective
So for under 30’s who are at no real risk of the virus whatsoever they might be better off just catching it as they’ve got a similar low risk with the virus as they have to having a bad reaction to the vaccine
Plus it’s coming back every winter anyway as all the top scientists have said so it’s never “going away” regardless.
Tbh I imagine the vaccine next year once all surplus doses have been used and the hysteria has died down, will only even be offered to the 50+, keyworkers or under 50 with underlying health conditions like the flu vaccine is only offered to those groups

Ok even forgetting the winter lifting of respiratory viruses, unless we permanently shut our borders forever or have quarantine restrictions in place forever it’s always going to put us at risk of mutations. We can’t control what other countries do, your plan implies everyone would be the same as us

I have done my bit, but that doesn’t mean just because I have I care about others being forced to have a vaccine if they don’t want to though
The only workable plan is to minimise deaths as much as possible which the vaccine should. It’s around 70,000 in any wave, we need to get that as low as possible, ideally no more than 10k
And sorry Cinci I appreciate your opinion but I’d rather believe what scientists think is possible than what you think is possible

Personal viewpoint is vaccine passports in the short term once everyone has been offered one.
If you're anti vaccines, then sorry if this offends you, but you're wrong. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. It is like coming on here and arguing that the earth if flat or oxygen doesn't exist.
As poster above says, it does reduce transmission. So for any one truly exempt for medical reasons, it would be safer for them if everyone around has one.
Vaccine passports with people truly medically exempt (none of this mask nonsense where every other person is medically exempt) are allowed back in.
I want to get back to normal life, don't want to wait any longer than necessary because some facebook scientists base their opinions on memes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's very bigoted to say somebody is an anti vaxxer because they chose not to have the covid vaccine, you're just a bigot.
OP here....
... as expected... a significant range of opinions.
So, to take it back to the question regarding LUFC... you’re running the business... and the Govt leaves it up to individual business to decide.... what do you do??
CinciWolf above says there’s no middle ground here.
Wouldn’t making half the stands ‘passport only’ and the other half no passports... why couldn’t this work?
OP
Segregation just seems like a bad idea. Football fans are already tribal enough without creating more separate groups. Plus it seems a bit arbitrary. You just know they'll all be mixing in the trains, buses, pubs before and after the game anyway.
The way I see it, either the local situation means that gatherings of people are safe or not. I'm not sure the idea of a covid passport is palatable for most people, and even if it were, I don't think it's the answer here. If you're dead against the vaccine this wouldn't convince you. It'd just create a black market of fakes to get into games etc. It'd be something else for the touts to sell.
Well reading the paper today it seems it’s not going to happen in pubs so I guess grounds will follow suit.
What’s the point if we can all mix in the pub before the game?
Best option is to let people decide on how they want to protect themselves. If I’ve had both jabs then I’ll feel quite safe. If I don’t feel safe I’ll social distance and/or wear my mask - whatever I can do. The last option is not to go where I feel there’s a risk.
I’ll continue to wash my hands anyway - especially after the bog. I’m always amazed how many blokes never wash their hands after holding their todger. It’s not rocket science.
"Boris Johnson has ditched plans to make customers show a vaccine passport when they go to pub in a huge boost for the industry.
The new “Covid status certification” scheme will only be applied to mass gatherings and indoor events like football matches and nightclubs."
So when is the covid passport active? Immediately after jab 1? Few weeks after jab 1? After Jab 2? Few weeks after jab 2? Will the vulnerable's passport run out very quickly to encourage them to take a 3rd booster jab in autumn? Suppose a passport will be pretty useless when we enter another lockdown
"indoor events like football matches"
Yeah ok Johnson. More utter bollox & confusion

Those people can still spread it. That is the whole point, ending this mess not just slowing it down and letting the less intelligent pass it about because they are cowards or have conspiracy ideas.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree BUT This doesn’t really make any sense though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because it can mutate and then the vaccines are worthless. So long as people don't get vaccinated this thing will go on and on and nobody wants to have to go through this bullshat again and again with lockdowns and restrictions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok even forgetting the winter lifting of respiratory viruses, unless we permanently shut our borders forever or have quarantine restrictions in place forever it’s always going to put us at risk of mutations. We can’t control what other countries do, your plan implies everyone would be the same as us

I really don't understand the arguments against this. If everyone gets the vaccine this shat ends, it is that simple. Seems to me the ones against it are just cowards.

Because that is the plan. Whilst half the world drags it's heels we should get used to restrictions. All you can do is your bit, so why on earth wouldn't you do it?

Will you be able to all mix in the pub before the game? Would they not be operating some form of social distancing protocol, even if it is just for the last games of this season?
