Let's look at this a different way.
LUFC does not impose vaccine passports. LUFC does not impose vaccines on their staff. Barstaff catch Covid while working at LUFC and dies. Family member then sues LUFC for breaching the health and safety of their child, leading to their death.
We live in a litigious society.
Bring this down to the level of the normal pub, the landlord of which does not have access to millions to pay the claimant.
This is a really tough position for businesses. It is only the Government that can decide, on our behalf, for the whole of society, whether we like their decision or not, whether we complain about the impact on our liberty or not.
I can choose to go to a nightclub or not - as long as I am over a certain age. Restrictions are already in place.
I can only go to certain clubs if I am a member. No membership? No entry. Restrictions are already in place.
I can only undertake certain financial dealings if I have proven categorically who I am and where I live and opened up my financial life to third parties. Restrictions are already in place.
I can only go on holiday if I pay £80+ for a passport and provide my details to the Government. Restrictions are already in place.
I can only drive a car on a public road if I have proven I have the skills, have a car MOT, have paid VED and I am insured. Restrictions are already in place.
I can not enter any public building if I am smoking. Restrictions are already in place.
I can only receive "free at the point of need" NHS ongoing care if I have an NHS number and the right to access that care (emergency care is different). Otherwise I have to pay for private health care. Restrictions are in place.
Of course I can still attempt to do these things despite these restrictions, but laws are in place where it is at my own risk of being caught.
The world has changed. Travelling by air or train or bus is now a danger. Socialising is now a danger. Not just to me, but by me possibly spreading the virus and inadvertently killing others.
Such restrictions will be in place for a long time. We would all love for life to "get back to the normal" of pre-Covid.
I just don't think that is going to happen.

I think that’s the Long, Short & Tall of it !
Sorry...couldn’t resist. But valid points, as have been made by many.
I think I posted this article when feeling a bit sorry for myself, having suddenly realised that the medication I’m on may significantly reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine on me personally. That means I have to readjust my risk decisions, which I turn means I need to be more careful than I had planned to be on my plans to return to a normality....e.g. going to a match. So naturally, for me, a world with high levels of Covid, but with all purportedly vaccine-protected from hospitalisation/death is a different kettle of fish to a world with less Covid around, so less need of the protection.
Clearly, this ain’t just about me. And I suppose it’s neither really about vaccine passports at all.
But if it does get proved that having the vaccine DOES reduced transmission, let’s all of us just hope that enough have the vaccine to slow that spread and give those of us who need it some hope to live a life.
Covid passports for games?
