" If you’re not an American citizen, you’re worth spit."
Am I reading this correctly? Are you saying that US citizens are better people than others?

I became about 17% better once I exchanged my Brit passport for a yank one

And 100% a bigger .

reading my comment a question popped in my mind.
Is it healthy to portray people like Son as a "victim" of racial abuse or would it be more conducive to portray them in a more positive light (i.e conquerors that they are)
as a kid growing up I know I would hate to see my idol (my dad) reduced to the status of a victim. Just a question?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's a good question. I don't know the answer but my instinct is that we should focus on the unacceptability of that kind of speech rather than on framing the target as a victim. Whether it's Rashford or Son or Salah, he's one of us, we stand together, when it's a case of racial abuse. The focus should shift to how pathetic and isolated the abuser is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I like your answer
Only thing I will add is the abusers are often emboldened by the anonymity of the internet. Maybe this is why the problem persists.
I believe the majority are good people and i hope stand by the abused if they ever witness it. Its never going to stop it happening because the world will always have s in it that feel a need to put others down because apparently their life is so bad they have nothing but hate in it idk?
Obviously a big part of the reason race is always brought up is because how effective using race is at getting what these s want which is a reaction.
I don't think its got worse i think its just being highlighted more which is a good thing, people are showing that solidarity standing by the abused which must be a big comfort for the victim, but at the same time its the exact reaction/attention the s are wanting.
At some point more people will realise its never going to stop, theres always going to be s in the world unfortunately. They'll see whilst highlighting it and confronting it they give comfort and support to the victims but at the same time fuel the s.
Whatever Son did on the pitch yesterday he shouldn't be racially abused for it. That's uncalled for.
I'd like to think that we're better than we were in the UK in terms of race but, to be fair, the vast majority of people I know and work with are white so I could be living in a kind of bubble too.
We were discussing at work today how casually we'd use offensive words when we were growing up in the 80s without really knowing what they meant. Things like pan$y, p**f, gay etc could be heard quite regularly. We even had a siop Paci in my home town (which was run by an Indian!). I'm glad that's not heard as often now as minorities have found their voice but we mustn't stop until everyone feels an equal part of society.

I assume you are like me, a dual national, and hold both passports?
If you want to go to Brazil, after Bolsonaro (!!), you'll find a Brit one gets you in no trouble. A US one you need all manner of paperwork.
These people have ip addresses. They should be traced and confronted. Any of the filth they post on Social Media, they would not say face to face
