I believe he is underrated by our fans and others. Admittedly, he had a really poor spell last season under Poch but came back in great form after his injury. This year has been a little more up and down for him but he's still been solid enough.
Fans predictably get on his back after a mistake but forget lots of good saves or good form that might come before it. Even Redknapp and Keane during their heated debate agreed he wasn't good enough for us, which made me scratch my head a little. He's been one of the more consistent parts of our defence.
I think he's been a top 5 keeper in the league since he's been with us, with periods where he has flirted with the top position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree with every word of that, he is horribly overrated by many on here.
He is not consistent at all and like most of our defenders should be sold.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So he wasn't consistent when he came back from injury for Mourinho?
I definitely don't think he's overrated. Gets more stick than praise on here.
Hugos kicking under Poch used to really do my head in but now the ball goes very short or very long, rather than some attempted precision.
Since the restart in July he has been superb, largely error free until recently Last couple months have seen a few poor games creep in but overall pretty solid.
I find in interesting that the main criticism of him by pundits is hat he does not command his box, while this may be true most of the time it is not a continual source of problems for us. Its not like he comes and flaps or we concede a lot from corners/set pieces, its just the occasional whipped in ball when you think may be he could have claimed it.
Also, do youre call his early days? He was always flying out of his area, a real sweeper keeper. I think he's gone too far the other way now.
over his may loyal years at Spurs i'd give him 8/10. One of our best if not our best in the EPL era.
I think now is the right time to go for him. See his career out in his home land. Do us a fave Poch, £15m would be a decent sum.

I've never been able to make my mind up on Lloris, which is odd in it's self given how long he's been number 1 at one of the 'big 6'.
Generally I rate him, and whenever I watch Spurs he pulls off saves that are incredible, good all round at most other areas of goalkeeping etc.
But then with him more than any other top keepers I have always thought that a lot of goals Spurs concede over the years, you find yourself saying 'keeper could have done better there'.

That was arguably his best period in a Spurs shirt and I said so at the time (although don't forget how he got injured at Brighton) but overall he has been a failure and he was soon giving paper wristed performances again like away to Leipzig.
This summer we need a huge ruthless overhaul and if a player is not part of the solution they are part of the problem.
Good shot stopped. Accident prone. I’d put him in a “good” category. Probably be in the with likes of joe hart and shay given when rating pl keepers

"Accident prone" is a bit OTT.
Lloris is one of the best shot stoppers in the world but he's pretty poor at everything else you ask for from a keeper these days
I think given his age and his contract situation there is a conversation to have about his future
safe to say Pawl has an agenda
not sure ive seen any keeper in the league make no mistakes.
Alisson is the best keeper in the league probably and one of the best in the world and has had a nightmare for errors this season.
Big difference between not making many mistakes and making a few. Llloris has made loads
Not to be mean but it’s always given me a little boost seeing lloris in the sticks when we play spurs
Lloris was also very good at our best under Poch, for a keeper to make great saves when rarely called upon is what makes you such a class keeper. Dont get me wrong though he still makes fair few mistakes which cost points but legit dont think we can do any better for now.
would that Lille keeper join us? god knows, probably not
Pope i like but hes even worse on the ball than Lloris. would happily have him though. but what will Burnley ask for be worth it?
our issue as well is our 2nd choice keeper is a disaster.
the stats in the sky sports article dont lie regarding Lloris however. i think hes comfortably been top 4 keepers in the league since Jose has arrived, hes had to kick the ball a lot less but seems to be more stuck on his line which lets him down.
hes made a number of mistakes for sure, because hes been at spurs the best part of 10 years. and maybe you have just seen the games where he has made them and not been good, nick?
longevity definitely plays its part with him.

Capable of great saves but every keeper playing for Spurs/France should be.
Terribly error prone (especially in big games), gets beaten at the near post far too often and can't kick. That half hit shot by Sanchez that gave 10 man Arsenal a draw at the Lane and stopped us going top of the Prem still haunts me.
So often he lets goals in where you find yourself thinking its not an obvious mistake but shouldn't he have done better. The Everton 5-4 Cup defeat was a great example of that.
Be lovely to kick off next season without him and you never know the defence might improve with a less dodgy keeper behind them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, you've just been presented with the facts about him being statistically far and way the best keeper in the league this season (taking into account the amount of shots he's faced compared to Ederson and Allison) and you still want to get rid.
Absolutely staggering.

I think people can be over critical of keepers. They all have mistakes in them. Allison has at his time at LFC made as many mistakes leading to goals as Lloris in the same time. Ederson makes less but you just need to watch some of Spurs goals vs City in recent years to see that really he should have saved a lot of them.
These are the two keepers i would have above Lloris but all the other contenders are no better or more consistent than Lloris, or worse.
The bottom line is we're punching above our weight with him. Simple as that.
some fans to tend to forget some absolute crap we had in goals prior
People definitely are overly critical on keepers - you always remember the ones they shouldn't have let in but never remember all the ones that they really had no right getting to

Thostvedt

Lloris
Hugo is the best of that list with Erik perhaps being closest. Friedel was steady but over the hill by the time he came.
