was it pawson from sheffield? no wonder he gave nothing to leeds
Don't forget the Shaw hand ball that the officials just said "nah fuq it, carry on."
Today's ref was an embarrassment.
The ref completely ignored 2 really bad fouls by man u in the 2nd half and played the advantage but didn't go back afterwards and caution the man u players.
A crap situation when the loadest screams come from the bench!..
Bad referring when they give in like that, should be dishing cards out to the bench instead of letting substitutes dictate play!..
glad is wasnt just me who thought it was 11 against 14 + var. shold have been a pen and we were getting bookings for same things they didnt even concede a free kick from. officials were terrible and in a game i thought we would get thumped the defence and midfield were awesome. glad to have been proved wrong
The one on Costa is just bizarre. Its a clear foul for a start, so not sure how neither he nor the linesman spotted it, and then booking Bamford after the fact was also just blind to the issue. Seemed like deliberately being vindictive.
I didn't think the handball was a penalty, though.
The Bamford booking was right, Bielsa needs to have words for such a sloppy booking!..
The same with Aloiski and others that get them for back chatting, and I'm saying Aloiski because he's a master at it, Ayling is another that does it!..
Against these clubs, it's been the same. Like the refs are star struck and don't want to disagree. They get every foul, we get half of them. Also much easier for a non 'top 6' player to get a booking. The one near the end where their bench just shouted so they got a free-kick was embarrassing.
The ref made that so stop start by giving every little foul even when it didn't effect the game and they didn't lose any advantage.
If anyone watched the PSG Munich first leg, the ref just didn't give those fouls, and the game was great and flowed constantly.
The one near the end where their bench just shouted so they got a free-kick was embarrassing.

That’s what prompted this article, the ref wasn’t even looking
As i said in the match thread
-Dive
-scream
-critical injury
-Win free kick
-jump up and play on
Would have been a very soft penalty if given, no arm to ball. A game of few chances, a point each was about right. The referees seem to be reacting to what has happened previously this season, I don’t think there is a clear directive. I really hope they sit down in the off season and address some issues. I’d like so see offside simplified and use feet for drawing the lines and I really wish they’d put an end to diving, play acting and trying to con the ref.
Anyone who wants a penalty for shaw handball needs to take their biased opinion away. Not even 1% a penalty in the laws of the game.
I did feel there were a few free kicks not given our way. Bamford booked for kicking the ball away , mctominay wasn’t. However in terms of key decisions there was nothing in the game which changed the result.
Ref was from Sheffield say no more

It doesn’t have to be arm to ball. If the arm is in an unnatural position and the ball hits it then it is a penalty.
This one was borderline. I’ve seen them given but they are harsh decisions. Rest assured though - in our area that would probably have been given.
If it was one of our defenders who did what Shaw did,
pen would've been given. No doubt in my mind.
Blimey there's some moaning on here.
I was moaning in the first half because our players were being soft. They came out second half and dished it out - made me proud. Mano a mano.
Happy with the Bamford yellow - it showed he was taking it really serious.
Didn't think the ref really got much wrong, the difference in class of players was clear first half but not the second, and that got me to the edge of my seat.
Was a proper match vs the toilet eventually, and our defensive play was (like in the last few games) Prem standard.
Flaming buzzing after that - even if the commentators thought it was a terrible game
One of the softest games I've seen in ages. Must have been well over 20 free kicks for Man Utd. Red Devils, more like Pink Fairy's.
That ball to arm was more a pen than the Koch one against Liverpool!..

Indeed but referees have had further direction since then.
Was his arm away from his body - no. It was a very easy decison to say no penalty hence why VAR was done and dusted in seconds.
His arm was away from his body.
His arm intercepted the ball's path. If he hadn't
used his arm he wouldn't have stopped the ball.
And waiting right behind him was an unmarked
Costa. So not only did he use his arm to stop
the ball, he prevented a clear goal scoring chance.

Nah, arm away from body and he cushions the ball down. Stonewall penalty.

Different contexts. The Wilson one wouldn't have been given had he not scored as a result of it, but handballs directly before a goal are now called regardless of arm placement, I believe.
Shaw's arm isn't away from his body one jot. Not rigid to his sides, but who stands like that? His stance would be the standard silhouette of a person, so therefore a natural position. If that had been given against Leeds I would have been fuming.
