Ten Hag is clearly a capable manager but I think there's a lot of fans here desperate to convince themselves he's the right man. I'm still not sure. The system is what breeds success at Ajax, not the manager. Whichever team nurtured the talent we faced a couple of years back during their teenage years is where the credit is found. Ten Hag is just someone passing through during a rich time of club development. With a bit of luck, De Boer could have had similar talent at his disposal. I'm not saying that he's not a good manager but the players that came through and the triangular patterns of play that, let's face it, should have demolished us, are possibly more an Ajax thing than a Ten Hag thing.
The one thing I'm clinging to is that Bayern were also looking at him before they bagged JN so he must have something about him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
F de Boer won the league but he played atrocious football and he did shte in Europe. Ten Hag is the best dutch manager in the last 20 years. He is tactically the best manager Ajax had in the last 30 since Van Gaal. His team dominated most opposition teams in Europe.
Ten Hag doesn't play the old school Ajax system of 433 were the wide players play as old fashioned wingers who put crosses in.
He plays more a 4231 which starts as 3151 in the build up phase. He is definitely not an Ajax type of manager who play static football. He is influenced by the German philosophy of high energy football with movement all over the pitch. His man management is very good and he never criticise players in public but always supports them even if they play shte.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice post, from the limited research I have done he seems to stand out as not just another Ajax manager.
He seemed to do pretty well at smaller Dutch teams before and had a couple of good seasons at Bayern II.
I think he's about as good as we can get. With Rodgers and Naggelsmann not coming I'd like Ten Hag or Potter.

I think you should go for Rangnick, the brains behind the revolution at Leipzig. He is available and in need of a big project.
His teams play great football too.

Reckon we might bring him in as a DoF, been linked a few times

He was the brain behind the German football revolution in 1998 and was one of the first coaches who implemented the gegenpressing before Klopp did this.
Your club will have succes if you can give him the time and resources to implement the methods throughout the club and put him in charge of the recruitment. He will get you cheap good players who will suit the managers style.
Rangnick as DoF would be phenomenal for Spurs, but there's no way Levy would cede the sort of control Rangnick would insist on. I really think that's a non-starter. It's far more likely that Levy will bring in a manager like Ten Hag, fail to bring in a competent DoF (or indeed ANY DoF), and in 2 years Ten Hag will be sacked after struggling with Spurs' poor/unfocussed recruitment.
Levy just loves seeing the look on their faces when he offers them a quarter of the asking price.

Basically start over the whole Poch saga.
Ten Hag will need a few seasons to get you going. Sandy will declare the quadruple won at the start of the season. Then because the manager is doing well, wont get further signings. Then the team starts to decline, Sandy will start writing letters, Ten Hag will be sacked. Rinse repeat.
im very ready for this again though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not at all mate. If you read my posts from the past few weeks, I have said it will take Spurs at least four or five years to even get back to the CL with the current squad, whoever the manager.
And I wasn't the one demanding the last manager was sacked before he had even completed one full season. So get it right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Phenom getting a rant from Sandy from something I said
Thats why quoting properly is so important
Ben Ten Hag or Rafa ‘the Spanish Waiter’ Benitez... or even Ralf Hasenthall
I see Gold says the club likes Allegri.
Levy does like cheap.
yet says we want an attacking progressive manager
I am under the impression we will sign Ralf Rangick. I usually know who the manager will be 48 hours before but i think it will be rangick.
We have contacted Leeds for Bielsa and have already interviewed Roberto Martinez.
The links with southgate and Ten Hag is fair as we have strong links with both.
Jesse Marsch will be the next Leipzig manager.
I want Jesse Marsch or Rudi Garcia but never gonna happen sadly.

Southgate ffs!
Don't want Martinez either.
It disappoints me to see we aren't even giving Potter an afterthought it seems.

Maybe LLM is but even without his post it does feel like we are overlooking Potter when he would be a great fit.
Thankfully I think we're more likely to get Ten Hag than either of Martinez or Southgate.
