Man City need 2 points from their remaining fixtures to guarantee the title. United also have to win all of their remaining fixtures to have any chance. You believe that's a reality?

You also think you will beat Leicester 3-0 with the side that you have posted in the OP? Give it a rest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They aren't guaranteed anything and if we win tonight it makes it more interesting. Just have to beat Liverpool and they'll be bricking it by the time they play Newcastle. It can happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Saying that "it can happen" or "it isn't guaranteed" is a lot different to saying that it's realistic.

If you genuinely realistically think that Man City will get less than 2 points from Newcastle (A), Brighton (A) and Everton (H) AND Man United will win all of their remaining games, then you need to give it a serious rethink.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Stranger things have happened and City will be distracted with the UCL.

Distracted with the UCL which is after the season finishes. If anything, these next 3 games give a better motivation for players to prove themselves to Pep in order to make sure they start in the final as well. I can't see them letting their standards plummet in the final 3 games of the season.

Why would Pep play his best team game after game, asking for someone like KDB or Foden to get injured? City are weaker now than ever due to UCL so we can exploit that.

Having said all of the above though we have to win tonight.

Because it's 3 weeks until the CL final, if you rest all of your best players until then to make sure they don't get injured then they will lose match sharpness ahead of the final. They have so many options they will just rotate as necessary so that players get minutes. Even City's best players will be playing between now and that final.

Putting all of that aside, City's 2nd team would amass a win (or 2 draws) in them last 3 games. Momentum will also be key going into the final, you don't want to be going into it with 3 poor results.

Speaking of you winning tonight, I wouldn't expect that side to beat Leicester 3-0 without some sort of meltdown from the Foxes.

Haha he showed his face on here recently when the ESL was announced. He's been mugged off so badly with Ole's success. Doubt we will see him again unless we lose EL final which won't happen.

I don't mean Pep won't play any of them but I expect him to use a lot of them off the bench. 20 mins here and there etc.

Leicester are in a meltdown by the way, just look at their recent results. Same happened last year.

Did you see us on Friday against Newcastle??!

We would normally hope for a reaction this evening to that bloody awful performance but confidence isn't looking great in the squad and we've got rather an important game on Saturday coming up.

Really hope we're not going to blow it right at the end of the season as we did last year but it's starting to smell like a repeat of last season again...

What so instead of us pushing for the title, let's lose at home to Leicester so LFC don't get UCL footie? What kind of pathetic loser's mentality is that? There's a title up for grabs and we can end the scouse hopes of top 4 on Thursday.

We have to win tonight.

posted on 11/5/21

Finishing second and getting to (and possibly winning) a European final would be a big push on for Utd.

Stopping Liverpool getting into the top 4 would end their Champions League revenue for next season, hindering their ability to stregnthen their squad and giving United a greater advantage of them for player signings - and meaning you will have a better chance of an even higher finish next season.

Yeah that's exactly what I mean by meltdown though. I was also referring more to the United side in the OP beating you 3-0, which I genuinely can't see happening.

Should we be fielding a 3rd team tonight, knowing we've got the title wrapped up? No point risking a 2nd team and winning easily when we can save the 2nd team for the Liverpool game and win easily tonight playing our under 18s. If we play our women's team in the EL final then we will get another trophy whilst our 2nd team is well rested for a title defence next season.

That 20 odd minutes along with the rest of their squad I think will still be more than enough to get at least 2 points from their remaining 3 games. But you seem to genuinely think otherwise.

Leicester's recent results are P5, W3, D1, L1. Hardly what I'd call a meltdown is it. That also includes a SF win.

It's good knowing no matter what team we play tonight then we win, because they're not going to let Leicester get top 4 ahead of Liverpool. They just won't allow that to happen. Similarly on Thursday, doesn't matter what team we play. They are giving the points to Liverpool.
