I’ve written to Jennifer Aniston, proposing that she spends a week tending to all my personal needs.
I’ll let you know how it goes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s more canestan you need
Yer an irritating coont
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know-you’ve told me that before.
I didn’t deny it then, and I won’t now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you’re lovely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You think I’m easy-thats not quite the same...
it changes nothing imo except to say that rangers requested something they knew they would never get.
------------------------------------
It changes the point that Rangers did nothing to try and mitigate the potential for hassle.
Which has been equally as banded about as the nonsense of 'they're not Rangers fans'

this story is silly imo.
10,000 people when in level 3 was never going to happen and only an idiot would think it would.
Secondly, i've heard that the idiots who were doing this were not real rangers fans, and while i agree with that in part (in that they were not weekly supporters), it doesn't change anything.
IF this was given the go-ahead then surely season ticket holders get the priority so the idiots would still have had to go somewhere and on a high like that even those leaving the stadium would still have joined a pre arranged march to george square.
it changes nothing imo except to say that rangers requested something they knew they would never get.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most of the reasons deBear listed are absolutely valid, but it’s almost being framed (and not by deBear) like a child asking for something they know they can’t get, and then having a tantrum. You can’t just give into a request because it’s something they’ve asked for if you know it can’t happen.
And like you said, there’s an assumption that this would have meant we wouldn’t have witnessed the carnage in George square, which is putting a lot of weight on that assumption.

I think the issue being bandied about is they didn’t do enough, not that they did nothing. Asking for something you know won’t and can’t happen isn’t really helpful, is it?
It changes the point that Rangers did nothing to try and mitigate the potential for hassle.
=========
ah, thats not something i have ever really considered so i probably why i don't see it that way
i don't think there is much rangers could do other than in the lead up issue very strongly worded statements.
they were a bit flimsy wth the language, "if possible" etc and could maybe have been more absolute but other than that i'm not sure what else the club could do.
to be fair, asking the scottish gov for 10,000 people in is a daft idea, its a number plucked from the air which is far too big and will never be approved.
had this rejection been common knowledge prior to the weekend i'm not sure it would have done anything other than further defiant attitudes.

——————————-
Didn’t mean to give that impression.
Should’ve said - it could’ve reduced the anti social behaviour.
If it meant there were half the amount of arrests, if it halved the amount of glass/rubbish in George Sq. if it saved one person from being bottled then surely it was worth trying?
If Rangers statements in the build up were completely ineffective (which they were) then so were the Governments, the Councils and the Police statements.
They all did nothing practical and given the experience of last year, the experience of March they all deserve the hindsight torch shown at them

Lawwell’s car petrol bombed last night. House caught fire as well.
I think the point is the gov were faced with a choice of do you want to make a big exception to your rules to let 10k people into the stadium (and make the club responsible for them), or do you want to take your chances with the whim of the mob? The gov took their chances with the mob and I can understand reasons for that both practical and political. You can say 10k was a ridiculous proposal, but if the estimate was a 15k strong mob then taking two thirds off it would have made it a lot easier to police. It would also have allowed 4 empty seats between each "guest" so reasonable covid measures could have been in place, while if they'd proposed a significantly lower number like 1000 then it would have made next to no difference to the size of the mob outside. Like I say, I can understand the reasons the proposal was turned down, but to say it was never feasible is a bit of a stretch. And if what they proposed wasn't feasible, then what could the club have done that would have made a significant difference?
there is only so much the club can do other than express their wishes and implore on the fans not to misbehave.
in the heat of the moment when arguing with each other i doubt any of those fans stopped and thought "no, think about what the club said"
they thought, i'm smashing this cvnt with this MD bottle.
