Thankfully it’s only Hancock. It’s not the first time he’s appeared at interview and contradicted his own government. I expect the wrists will be slapped again in a few days and he’ll be moved out of the limelight for a month or so yet again.

If you expected it due to large numbers of drunk people then why did it never happen when Celtic were celebrating all the trebles?
Treble Treble took place the same day as the Rugby European final at Celtic Park. Town was a great buzz. Not an ounce of trouble
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I have said previously, comparing last night with things like this is folly
1. Fans were allowed into the stadium for the cup final
2. There was no pandemic at the time, fans could go to pubs and do what they liked
3. An officially organised street parade was cancelled due to safety fears, be interesting to see what had happened if that had went ahead
There are many other factors to consider also
So as said, there is no like for like with this...stop comparing it
Agreed.
There is no like for like to gauge yesterday’s antics.

First thought on reading this article
This one trophy obviously means more to our supporters than all the ones you rhymed off do to you and your fellow fans....pretty sure I know what the reason for that is, and I’m sure you do to
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enjoying a trophy win does not mean trashing the city and fighting among yourselves. That is thug behaviour. No excuses for any of it. Glasgow’s shame once again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not trying to excuse it
More people gathering in one place + alcohol + some resentment for the current administration within a number of the group present = idiots taking things too far, showing a lack of respect for authority and basically acting as drunken idiots tend to do.
If Celtic ever have to work from the bottom tier up, win their first title in 10 years, stop their greatest rivals from winning 10iar in the process, and are told by a government that the majority of their fans don’t like, that they can’t do something....are you honestly telling me there would not have been similar scenes last night?
As said, this title clearly means a lot more than any of the trophies you lot have won over the past 10 years......the environment surrounding that title win has led to what happened last night.
If the pubs were open, if fans could get into Ibrox and they could celebrate how they liked where they liked......last night doesn’t happen.
As has also been said on these boards today..,a quick google search will show you Liverpool fans fighting amongst themselves outside Anfield after their first title in 30 years.
Had they had won the league every year for the past 10 years...that doesn’t happen......would’ve been more like what was seen at the Etihad last week
So stop trying to compare what this title win means, with what Celtic fans have or have not one over the past 10 years...wholly different circumstances

You brought up the Treble Treble celebrations, and are trying to use it as a comparison to what happened with Rangers fans at George Square last night..as if they are the same thing
Can you tell me the following then mate?
How many incidents were there in pubs up and down the country involving drunk Celtic fans the night the treble treble was won? In fact, can you even tell me how many incidents there were in pub beer gardens around the country last night after the title celebrations?
If the pubs and clubs in Glasgow were not open at that time, would you have expected the same number of Celtic fans to turn up in the City Centre as did that night, and expect the police response to have been exactly the same as it was?
My guess is you can’t answer these questions...so I say again, stop trying to say Celtic fans behaved well in a similar situation when there hasn’t been one
Can't answer because we didn't riot
Thanks for playing
Were this sizeable minority of fans Thugs? Yes
Did similar events take place with these same ‘fans’ a few weeks ago? Yes
Were fans encouraged not to congregate? Yes
Did they ignore the advice and cause mayhem again? Yes
These are thugs and hooligans. They exist in society and should never be defended in any way whatsoever, irrespective of what team they follow.

i remember celtic fans fighting each other when lennon was given the celtic job.
I also seem to recall violent protests at shark head because same guy still had the job.
Doesn't really change what a bunch of idiots did yesterday though. Yes its an embarrassment for rangers fans, i still enjoyed my day regardless in the house with a fridge full of cans.

Yes it was.....because more idiots were present, a simple fact.....not more Rangers fans....just more idiots
If the protests at Celtic park had been planned for months, if masses of the Celtic support bought into the idea and it had been plastered all over social media in the lead up to it ......I wonder what we would have seen then?
Should also be mentioned that the last time Celtic fans clashed with police, it was at an unauthorised gathering that the police tried to split up and disperse.
I’m sure that’s one comparison you won’t want to be making with last nights events, and would rather peddle the “yous are worse than us” agenda
