Yes could be going for a record here if im last again

Wigan, stop complaining. People are busy, LSTD, I and others such as JET, Punting, Fan, Wilshere take time out of their day to do results. So have some patience.

4-4

Good game. Wanted to win but expected a point. All my front 3 scored two

Can do Blackburn v Wolves if you want?

3-4 on yellows

posted on 17/12/11

All 3 scored too*

Ramires and Moutinho seemed to get over run in midfield a bit though maybe need to stick to 4-2-3-1 and just use the Napoli counter attack style against the top 4

Sunderland vs Wigan Athletic

Sunderland welcomed Wigan today at a packed Stadium of Light. Wigan looked to win their first game in five while Sunderland looked to get their self out of a bad spell. Wigan got off to a good start, Pirlo held the ball brilliantly and picked out Kuyt who was unmarked on the right wing. He did an early cross which evaded the Sunderland defence and it fell to Zarate whose diving header was put over the bar. Wigan continued to attack and they should of went a goal up, Pirlo played a magnificent outside foot pass over the Sunderland defence and Gignac ran on to it and he rounded the keeper but instead of shooting he decided to pass it across to Zarate but luckily for Sunderland, Juan was there to boot the ball away. Wigan attacked again and went 1-0 up when Zarate played a cross across the face of goal and Gignac tapped it in from close range. This cued mass boo's from the Sunderland supporters. Sunderland couldn't get back in to the game but on the stroke of half time, they had their chance to equalize. Menez put in a corner and Juan headed it off the post. Sunderland came back out looking more confident. Lamela found Menez out wide who put in a low cross and it was flicked by Kiessling and it hit the bar. Sunderland continued to come forward and should of equalized when Elia's low cross was met by Kiessling but Butt came to the rescue and produced an amazing save to keep his team in the game. Sunderland came forward, looking for an equalizer and they got it when Elia's shot was blocked and it fell to Lamela who rocketed the ball in to the top corner. It was end to end stuff now, both teams looking for the winner. Sunderland should of had a penalty when Menez was clipped from behind by Pirlo but Wigan counterered and had a 4 on 2 situation. Stankovic powering forward, he played through Zarate who squared it to Kuyt who tapped it in to send the away fans crazy. Sunderland came forward looking for that all important equalizer and went incredibly close when Lamela's volley took a deflection hitting the inside of the post and bouncing out. They had another chance when Kiessling had a free header from six yards out and put it wide. The full time whistle soon went, a contrast of emotions in the ground. Jubilation in the away end, despair in the Sunderland end.

Full Time Score: Sunderland 1-2 Wigan

Sunderland Goal Scorer: Lamela 65
Wigan Goal Scorer: Gignac 27 (Zarate) Kuyt 87 (Zarate)

Sunderland MOTM: Erik Lamela - 8 - Will be distraught, played one of his best games in a Sunderland shirt and was on the losing team. He was inches away of getting an equalizer and scored a peach of a goal.

Wigan MOTM: Andrea Pirlo - 9 - His creative spark was crucial today, he kept the ball well, passed it around brilliantly and started many attacks. Will be over the moon to have won at such a difficult ground too.
