Of course he's past his best, but nevertheless been a wonderful player for us & will be held on high esteem. I think it was the season we won the Champions League, with the infamous penalty shoot out, in which he was imperious.

We've never had a regular RB in the time but

Think that has to be one of the best PL defences of all time, everyone went on about man Utds but Chelsea conceded the least goals for like 4 years running eve with Vidic-Ferdinand in their prime

Yeah, two quality defences at similar times

I never knew Essien was a RB.

Essien plays virtually everywhere RB, CB, LB, DM, CM, AM, RM, LM he's played them all for Chelsea

Ferriera was injured that season so Essien played RB and was amazing!
