Obviously your view is a biased one as a Chelsea fan. Personally a big fan of Gibbs from what I've seen. You would have said the same about A.Cole when he was younger that he wasn't as good defensivley. It's the same with most young full backs. But he's still better than Clichy.

if he was better than clichy he would have been starting over clichy but he wasnt, and even now its seems most arsenal fans prefer traore.

my view probably is biased but if you watched the same amount of bertrand as you did gibbs youd realise whos the better defender.

as i say though neither will replace cole in the long terms there are others imo who will be better than both

Can't agree at all.

Personally think Gibbs will establish himself as Arsenal's left back, and will grow from there. See him replacing Cole in the long run.

Saw some of Bertrand when he was at Reading, good player. But still rate Gibbs a good bit higher.

All the best full backs in the world are strong going forward. Likes of Lahm, Maicon, D.Alves, Evra etc. They weren't as strong defensivley when they were 20. Evra is an obvious example.

Being? The best youth players are generally at the top clubs these days. I'd expect Bertrand and Gibbs to be two left backs challenging for the left back spot for England in years to come.

gibbs/bertrand will be englands next LB but there are others who imo will be long term succesors

Man Utds LB in their youth team, cant remember his name but i watched him once or twice last year and he looks a good player and apparently rated very highly.
Aziz Deen-Conteh at Chelsea who will become our LB imo and think he could well become englands in 5 or 6 years imo
and theres one at sheffield united who was amazing in their run to youth cup final whos 16/17 think he could well push them

think one of the younger players could become better but obviously depends how they all develop

Fair doos, thought you were meaning guys of the same age as Gibbs/Bertrand. Can't say I know much about English clubs youth teams

no definitly cant see anyone of their level of a similar age at LB unless kelly at liverpool is played there.

but there is a fair amount of english talent in the position at lower age groups. and tbh a lot in other positions, especially at chelsea lol, champions of every level below senior except for youth cup which is united atm. If only the senior squad did aswell last year lol but we have good young players and our under 15s are the best in europe so theres hope lol
