You and I grew up when race was never mentioned or an issue and you were only ever called an orange bassa, lol

People around us then were casually racist in Glasgow and Belfast, no question...and if I was black growing up in either place, I am sure I would have a different perspective..always said this.

But, labelling folk racist and privileged for no other reason than skin tone is divisive and counter productive.

Many black, brown, Asian folk do not think white people are all racist and privileged, but some do, often empowered by white middle class academics or loons.

The worst thing we can do is make kids feel guilty or call them racist or victims.

That is not good teaching.

Not sure, there’s an element of me that thinks that’s a better starting position to try and then get to a point of proper empathy rather than the vacuous “all racism is bad”, which is the equivalent of just saying bears sh)t in woods. It at least then starts the next question of why and understanding that there are multiple different drivers all requiring different solutions to try and rectify it.
