What was the big pub on Mauldeth Road West called?

My point was, the team who was arguably the best away from home last season with United's unbeaten record should have done better an Anfield, considering the disastrous Feb/March period, maybe even late Jan as well.
I know what you're saying in general terms, but I wouldn't consider it a big step by taking points off somebody who have been far from impressive at home, just because they usually are. Especially if you're 2nd in the table, wanting to challenge for trophies and have a very good away record.
In principle, it would be like saying you've got a really good result because you avoided defeat at Arsenal if you were somebody like Everton, for instance. Yes, traditionally it is, but in the circumstances, it's not all that impressive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe not but it's a result I regard as positive all the same. Taken in isolation it's not all that great but in the wider context of the season, being unbeaten at all of your rivals home grounds is a positive thing. If we aren't winning the league we can either have that as the sole focus and spend the summer miserable or we can look at the season as a whole and see what positives there were.
I don't think it's a big step, it isn't cheer worthy but unless you're set on being completely cynical and pessimistic, you have to take what good things you can.
I'm sure getting top 4 isn't something Liverpool fans want to be glad about but in the context of your season, plenty of your fans celebrated getting into it. One could take the view of sneering at a set of fans celebrating their club going backwards, or that given how the season went and the circumstances at hand, it's perfectly acceptable to see that ad an achievement. That doesn't mean that is the end of your aspirations or that you're accepting mediocrity, it doesn't mean that's what you want going forward, but it can still be seen as somewhat of a success.

I think they even have a tramline that goes right down Hardy Lane, over the meadows and into Sale and Alty. Madness.
Think again, there isn't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am sure there is but I haven't been to Chorlton in years. I remember I used to go to The Jacksons Boat for a nice quiet pint on a Sunday. Good pub if you know it, just over the bridge on the left.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was there about 6 weeks ago, went for a pleasant walk by the river.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah good little spot isn't it.
So obvious that all the Manchester stuff is rubbish though. And the fact he googles stuff to use on here makes his wum persona even better/sadder.

It has fooled one of our posters.
How sad is it that he goes to this extreme to invent a persona on the internet to only end up looking ridiculous.

The Southern pub mate. On the corner opposite the park and over the rd from Ali's. To be fair it was nice inside but shut years ago. I went for a carvery there one Sunday.... watched us draw 2-2 at home to Porto in 2009 there too.

Yawn again. It's on Nell Lane and it used to be opposite the cage football nets (yellow and red I think) in the park. There was also a fenced off section of Chorlton Park right opposite it which I think was used by the school as a play area. Not sure if that's still there but when we'd play footie at the cage there'd never be anyone using it opposite us.
Alright then if i'm not from Chorlton how do I know that the Tesco Express opposite KFC (Barlow Moor Rd towards the petrol station) used to be a pub?
Opposite the Tesco which used to be a pub there was an old Blockbuster video.
Behind the garage beside McDonalds if you followed the road down there was an old Riley's pool hall. I am not sure if that's still there but it was quite secluded down the side of Maccies and behind the petrol station.

Google Earth is a handy tool.
And before some troll says 'oh you just googled it' well if anyone has actually been in that Riley's then how do I know:
When you turn right and approach the Rileys, you press an intercom to get in. You then go up a set of stairs to the left and enter the pool hall. The bar is immediately to your right and to get to the toilets you have to walk past the bar on your right, into the pool hall and then turn back towards the bar before you go down another set of stairs (more pool tables downstairs) before you turn left and then the gents are on the left side.
Boom.

Lol it's a big pool hall they probably wouldn't notice.
Oh and remember AllSports?? Well on Barlow Moor Rd there was an AllSports just after the crossroads with Sandy Lane on the right hand side but it shut down around 2006. The little strip it was on is now just full of bars.
There's no way i'd know that if I wasn't from Chorlton.
What's the crossroads at Wilbraham Road and Barlow Moor Road known as locally?
