Eduardo Camavinga Update

I wouldnt be surprised to see PSG make a move for Pogba following his performances at the Euros.

Get Camaving and Varane/other CB signed up.

Sell Pogba to PSG for Veratti + £15m and they have to take Jones as well.

Use the £15m for Trippier or another decent RB as competition for AWB.

While he sounds very exciting and I’d love to get him from everything’s I’ve read, I do think we need to bring in some more experienced players, more like 25-30 age who can come in and instantly make an impact.

this guy has 85 senior career games, 4 appearances in the cl (rennes finished bottom of their group, with 1 point from 6 matches), and was overlooked for sissoko for this summer's euros, so as promising as he may be, anyone thinking he will join utd as a nailed on starter is being hugely optimistic.

though if he is available at €30m (less than half the figures touted last summer) then i guess he doesn't need to be.

I can't imagine we are about to drop £30m on a young squad player when we need a CB and DM

We need a source on the inside to let us know what's happening

Looking at our midfield options currently for the 2 man 'pivot' Ole seemingly won't stray from, I would question any new signing that we bring in that wouldn't be good enough to at least be considered as an automatic starter tbh. I would at lwast expect them to believe they're good enough to be starting ahead of McFred.

The main thing is for me, they 100% need to be disciplined and good enough all round to be able to perform in a midfield 2 with Pogba, because if he stays we need to be getting him on the pitch for us in midfield more often than not against the sides we 'should' be beating.

I would definitely be happy for Pogba to leave on a free but I'd be keen to buy him back due to the profit we'd make on shirt sales.

For 30m it's a no brainer for me.

Sometimes you have to act when an opportunity arises.

I can't imagine we would pass up the opportunity to sign a player with world class potential just because he probably won't start for us at this particular point in time.

I haven't ever watched him for a full 90, my awareness of him comes from the fact that he's been talked about for some time now and has been earmarked as a top class prospect for a while. If a player of that ilk is available at a price such as that being quoted, you 100% buy them if you can. At that price you will get your money back in a few years if he doesn't hit the heights you had hoped and I would rather take the chance, it not work out and we sell him on for around what we paid for him, than see him go to PSG and end up being one of the best in his position. Or go somewhere else and pay £100 million in 3/4 years.

His all round game seems impressive, particularly for his age. Less of an out and out destroyer and more of an all rounder. Watching as much as I can of him and delving into his stats over the last year, he's clearly a very aggressive tackler and very comfortable with the ball. He will disposes someone and then move forward with the ball, looking to then play it forward and set up an attack. What does concern me is his interceptions, which are incredibly low.

He seems to have plenty of energy and talent with the ball, attempting and successfully completing a similar amount of tackles per 90 to Kante and in terms of energy, he actually presses more in both the middle and attacking third than Kante does, but less in the defensive third. Considering everything all round, he seems a bit more like a Kovacic style player, someone comfortable with most aspects of the game but not as specialised a defender as Kante or an out and out attacking player. I'm not sure how he would fit into a double pivot, seems more comfortable in a 3. The hype around him and his numbers in a variety of areas show he's clearly a very good talent and at the price it's a no brainer.

He doesn't 'fix' our midfield next season though but I would take the chance anyway, personally. In games against smaller teams particularly, I don't see why you couldn't play him and Pogba in the pivot with Sancho, Rashford and Bruno ahead. I think the issue with breaking teams down would be much less of a problem.

Different order of magnitude in fee

So it's a question of if we have £30m lying around spare on top of what we need to spend to strengthen the first team them?

If the plan is a loan I wonder if they'd consider sending him to Rennes if we did sign Camavinga? Something to sweeten the deal.

or to dortmund as part of a sancho deal?

I think after Garners success at Forest he'll either be going back for a full season in the Championship with another side or preferably if any of the promoted sides would want to take him for some PL experience. It's absolutely key that we pick somewhere where they'd be playing him regularly though.

I would say that in the absence of a player who is readily available, he presents a realistic, long term opportunity. In some ways he does improve our first team and if we can't get in an immediate upgrade for a reasonable fee then you could do a lot worse in terms of progression planning. In 2/3 years he will likely be a superior player to whoever we bring in now.

Unsure why we're not chomping at Saul Niguez though, as I understand it he didn't have a great year and it's a bit of a concern that Atletico are seemingly so comfortable letting him go, particularly for the price being banded around. I would have said he is a clear and obvious upgrade to our midfield but I don't watch him much at all outside of CL. There may well be a good reason we aren't in for him but I can't think of many other realistic, obvious targets we can go for this summer.
