Scotland are one game away from being the only side not to lose to England - a huge shot at glory for yourselves
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Denmark also drew with England over 90 minutes just like we did.
In terms of the cheating- I think it’s about how far you take it, how obvious it is and how well the ref does win dealing with it.
Take Jose’s Porto team - almost unwatchable because of the diving and time wasting. But the ref let it happen.
There was a Netherlands game in the tournament where Depay tried a ‘Harry Kane’ about three times in the first 15 minutes. The ref never gave him a foul once and told him to get up.
Depay stopped going out his way to try and win free kicks because every time he went down without a foul he lost the ball.
England fans just want their team to win so they are hardly going to care.
I wanted to watch a good game of footy and it just frustrates the life out of me every time Kane went down unnecessarily.
England have good enough players not to have to resort to that pash.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is part of the modern game and the top sides and players in the world do it - Neymar is on the floor more than he is on his feet. Immobile was shown up as a horrible cheat in the Belgium game. Spain are constantly falling to the floor and the French go looking for it as well.
England over the years in tournaments have been knocked out on the back of a hand ball goal, a Simeone dive/play acting, a Frank Lampard goal incorrectly not given and a couple of headers against Portugal and Argentina not given due to “fouls”.
We’ve caught up, we realise it’s part of the game now and use it to our advantage - time the curlers learnt

We are just playing by the same rules as the others these days. It would be nice not to have to resort to it, but if you want to go far in tournaments then it’s a reality.

England’s squad is about two levels above Scotland’s. A draw was a shock result as it was.
Lesser teams trying to gain a competitive advantage is one thing. Still hugely frustrating though.
England should not have to resort to that stuff to beat Denmark. They should have a bit more faith in themselves as footballers.

Agree Wilko. It's also up to the ref to act on it, if players cheat they are taking a chance as they give the ref a decision to make.
Personally I don't think anything last night was cheating. Harry Kane is an experienced top striker who used his body and his experience to draw fouls that weren't fouls.
Sterling I think has had really harsh criticism. It's 100 minutes in to the game and he's running at full pace, it probably only takes a gust of wind to knock you over at that stage and there is a brush from the defender on the shoulder. Never a pen in a million years but he didn't cheat. Ultimately I'd rather be accused of cheating like Kane and Sterling and in a final than sat at home after finishing bottom of the groups and knocked out in the first round complaining about other countries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
draw fouls that aren't fouls?
so you don't like cheating? playacting? poor sportsmanship what word should we attach to that.
and the excuse that "they all do it" "it's just the modern game" is all BS at every level it's cheating and it's pathetic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not cheating though. That's why there's a ref there to enforce the rules. It's been quite amusing to see so many people up here get worked up about England cheating when we celebrated scoring one goal and getting a point as a success despite going out in the first round.
I've seen players con refs several times over the years watching Rangers and Scotland. I rarely complain about it because it's up to the ref to enforce the rules. The top players know how to draw fouls, draw in their opponent or work the referee.
Italy's performance in the last 20 minutes against Belgium was a masterclass in game management. The ball was only in play for 6 minutes of that last 20. They are in a final and the clubs who went home in the first round get no prizes for moral fibre.
And by the way another reason I'll never get worked up about "cheating" is because not a single fan cares when their team benefits.
There are some people throwing out a lot of criticism who will never react the same way when it's one of their own doing it. It proves no one actually cares about protecting the integrity of the game or cheating and instead just don't like it when they are on the wrong side of it.

Exactly, and those fans of teams knocked out are only ever seen as bitter.
Argentina fans still worship Maradonna and rejoice at winning the World Cup in 86 - even though they had to resort to outright cheating to win it. It’s part of the game and up to the refs to sort it out.
Having said that, if the Italians out cheat us on Sunday, I will be raging
If the Italians cheat you on Sunday the English people celebrating Kane getting fouls that aren't fouls will be raging and the people on here calling England cheats will be delighted and suddenly won't care about cheating.
That's how it works. But we have 4 referees and VAR in place now so if players are still getting away with things then that's not on them it's on the officials.

Not to mention them making a wall for the FK blocking Pickfords view by walking right next to our wall before the ball was kicked (which isn't allowed), so basically cheating.
It was never a pen.
I tipped Italy to win it and I think they'll do it.
England have great players, but I don't think Southgate is that good a manager, far too cautious imho.
Tallies to win the final 2-1 by a dodgy pen in the 95th minute.

Great free kick though.
I obviously get the fact that loads of teams push the rules to the limits and normally it doesnt bother me.
I wouldnt say the penalty was necessarily cheating - that was more down to poor refereeing.
Kanes performance frustrated the life out of me though. And I dont agree that when your team benefits from it you ALWAYS turn a blind eye to it.
I think it depends on how far you take it.
Kris Boyd used to frustrate the life out me with his antics - hitting the deck whenever he felt the breath of a CB on his neck to win fouls.
I think it was one game against Dundee Utd in particular he was really bad for it. Won one of the softest pens I have seen. It was embarrassing we felt the need to resort to that.
Absolute riddy. Used to drive me mad.

England over the years in tournaments have been knocked out on the back of a hand ball goal, a Simeone dive/play acting, a Frank Lampard goal incorrectly not given and a couple of headers against Portugal and Argentina not given due to “fouls”.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not sure what any of this bar the Simione incident has to do with Kane being an embarrassing diving cheat?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We are just playing by the same rules as the others these days. It would be nice not to have to resort to it, but if you want to go far in tournaments then it’s a reality.
If Che Adams has belly flopped in the last minute against England for a penalty - you lot wouldn’t have given a shake shiiiit, you would have been singing about it for years to come
----------------------------------------------------------------------
England’s squad is about two levels above Scotland’s.

That's how it works. But we have 4 referees and VAR in place now so if players are still getting away with things then that's not on them it's on the officials.

It is part of the modern game and the top sides and players in the world do it - Neymar is on the floor more than he is on his feet. Immobile was shown up as a horrible cheat in the Belgium game. Spain are constantly falling to the floor and the French go looking for it as well.

We’ve caught up, we realise it’s part of the game now and use it to our advantage - time the curlers learnt

Its not always part of the modern game. And it doesnt have to be.
Denmark werent doing it last night.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Denmarks dive for the FK that they scored from was as much of a dive as Sterlings.
