Lucas Moura's improved passing...

Lucas has been a player with zero vision, he does so much excellent work and then fails to see the pass, which was so frustrating and his biggest failing.

Hopefully this is a sign that the new coaches have been working on him improving that aspect of his game.

Looks like it. A few one time through balls and a top cross for Scarletts disallowed goal. Some good signs. Has all the dribbling skills now needs to play with his head up

That's football in general. How do you think the betting industry is worth billions....Mostly optimism.

What do you think 90% of football fans feel and go through? It's literally optimism of your team doing well and winning a cup which is the love of the game

Just because City and Chelsea are financially doped and don't require optimism doesnt mean the rest of us can't enjoy it and get excited ffs.

City and Chelsea fans won't feel anything soon, they will be numb to it all because they win everything due to being financially doped.

Pepper thinks because his club keep buying trophies that is something to be proud of. He obviously never supported Chelsea when they were in the 2nd division.

Mour a works hard pressing as well.
Dele, NDombele and Lo Celso are kind of luxury players who don’t really do that. So having all of those three in a team leaves us very open
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd say GLC works pretty hard, has that Argentine attitude. He just isnt as mobile as Lucas.

Lovely headed goal by Lucas. He has a superb leap and decent heading ability. So much so Jose didnt mid us booting it long to Lucas' head.

A really good player on his day but a bit like Lamela, the decision making and end product didnt always match the build up play. Son used to be the same.

I quite like Moura, but he does seem to spend a hell of a lot of time on the floor. Good that he draws fouls, but he should be driving into the box and drawing fouls there, instead of near the halfway line.

posted on 22/7/21

Frustrating player, because he's always had the talent to be top class but just doesn't have the composure. Always seems to be in a rush. To be honest it would be very late for him to suddenly develop in that respect, but fingers crossed I suppose.

"improved passing".
What a relief to understand it was about his ball distribution rather than a post jab death.

This totally, if Moura receives the ball closer to opposition goal I can see him creating all kinds of havoc. Defenders would back off creating more opportunities.

Just when he was finind form centrally he was dropped and moved wide. Never understood that. His pressing is also an asset.

The problem with Moura, his first instinct when he recieves the ball is it put his head and run with it. See the first 5 mins of yday game as a perfect example.

Only when he has done the same thing 3 or 4 times and runs out of gas abit he will then look for a pass.

He is a very selfish player in that regards. He doesn't really think about the team first. It's more of a case how I can release all this energy? He just lacks football IQ until he gasses out abit.

If a defender or two are close to him and he has enough energy he sees it as a challenge and works out how get round them. His end product after a run is so bad most of the times.

Or City in the third for that matter. Yeah to all those who still don't get it, money buys you more or less anything.

So we are now reduced to running down the player who became a hero with his hat trick against Ajax🤔

Moura is an exceptional footballer who has in my opinion rarely been used properly by Spurs, especially by Mourihno.

Yes he goes to ground a lot, but then so does Grealish, Sterling etc and are heralded by their fans.

For his height, Lucas is possibly one of the best headers of a ball in the PL.
One of our problems last season was the lack of movement off the ball by the players, thus preventing defence splitting passes.
If players moved quickly it also creates spaces for others to move into, I think that players like him and N’Dombele would create far more opportunities for us as a team.

Whilst we need to bolster the defence, if we are creating in the middle of the park and in our opponents half then a lot of pressure is taken off the defence. However if your defence is constantly under pressure due to sitting back and allowing the opposition to dominate possession, this in my opinion only increases the pressure and % of errors increase exponentially too.

I have always believed the best form of defence is attack, when we had Walker, Rose, Toby & Jan we looked to move the ball forward quickly.

Nowadays the person who has the most pass rate completion is normally one of the central defenders. It is also infuriating to see the team get the ball up towards the corner flag and then pass all the way back to the keeper etc. Just once it would be nice to see someone try to beat an opponent and create a chance on goal. But of course possession is King🤴, unfortunately we are only at the level of a Duke🧐in relative terms!😦

Have got to say, City did get good attendances when they were in League 2👍

Honest question, do you think a player at his age could improve his passing ability after such a short time with a new coach?

Maybe just a purple patch or he's found his range, like him as a player, decent effort and doesn't complain from what I see of him

This is why I'm optimistic that this squad with better coaching and a new defence should make improvements.

Fans have let Jose confuse us to thinking the squad is worse than it is. We have deadwood for sure but majority of first team still talented.

Anything is possible, look at Mourihno for instance. Gone into clubs and completely transformed good players in to plodding ones🤯

If a 29 year old manager with no experience can win 4-2 at Leicester when we needed to...Either he is a genius or the team is actually better than we give credit for.

Jose had a very average win % of our recent managers.

Am sorry but no one can coach flair out of you.
And to think After a few training sessions a new coach has turned a 28yr old Moura into Prime messi playing in a friendly against a League 2 side.
Some are really taking this anti Mourinho thing to a new level

Have you actually played football? I have known really talented players who were told to forget the fancy stuff and just focus on the basics. Eventually they got tired of being told flair was not needed so they packed up.

Of course flair can be diminished by training and the way a team sets up, which is why some (not all) of our players have gone backwards. I agree you do not stop being a good player, however if your motivational levels are reduced by negative coaching, then you lose that little bit extra you need.
