Terrible management of this player by Ole. Rash should have had this surgery after the ropey final and he would be back early Sept. A private conversation with Gareth would have confirmed that Rashford was going to Euro20 as a squad player to basically make up the numbers.

I think just like Ole, Southgate did not let Rashford have the surgery for the purpose of "greater good". We all know Rashford is a sucker for "greater good".

Better off without Martial. Hope he gets nowhere near the team next season. Dreadful!
First game will be probably see
Sancho Martial Greenwood
Based on their pre seasons.
Cavani isn’t back training yet is he?
He’s gonna be a big miss. Hopefully Sancho can settle quickly, and we’ll need Martial to regain some form in his absence.

This is true. I think he’s going to have a better season than last anyway.
Rashford’s a big miss, but I suppose his absence gives us the opportunity to work on some different combinations in the attack - and give some more opportunities to other players - so potentially there’s some good to come out of him not being in the team.
Obviously the worry is just how much we rely on him in attack, even with his fitness problems.

Hopefully. Leeds are not the team you want to be opening against when you haven't had a pre-season
We saw last season the difference a lack of preparation for the season can make. At the very highest level it’s so important, keeping fit on holiday just doesn’t cut it.
Leeds are probably the fittest team in the league. It’s a big reason in why they are so competitive, because it really elevates the team above the level of talent in the squad. They’re the worst team we could play in the first game of the season.

I'm going to go for a more positive outlook.
I think a game v Leeds will suit us in many ways as they won't just come to defend. If we defend well, even if we have to grind it out, we should have chances the other way. I doubt we'll be as bad as we were v Palace last season as well. That was just extraordinary in many ways due to still playing the Europa in August.
Hopefully having fans back can make a huge difference.

I am actually really happy that he will be out for 12 weeks. He needs a sustained rest. His body needs a rest to properly get over the back, knee and shoulder injuries. We have got enough bodies to cover his absence and hopefully when he returns he is back the form he was showing before his back injury.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s how I feel. He needed a break and we’ve got others who can stake a claim. As long as he comes back OK.
