Which PL side has had the best summer

I can’t lie, United have had a very strong window just with Varane and Sancho alone.

Villa have clearly had a good window, spending the Grealish money well. I think they punched above their weight last season but now their squad is looking more like a bonafide top 10 side.

Villa: I expect Ashley Young, Buendia and Ings to have a good season.

Brighton: Kept Potter and Bissouma, and sold White for a decent fee

Leicester: Daka highly rated in the youth circles, Soumare was on my shortlist for CMs and has done very well for a title winning team. Leicester seems to have a good scouting system so I'm expecting both to pan out.

Spurs: Gil, if he pans out, would put them in this conversation. Surprised it only took Lamela and £20m to get this done. Keeping Kane and getting in a defender is a win in their books.

Cautiously optimistic on Sancho and Varane but the majority of big money and big name signings haven’t lived up to expectations post SAF.

Yes I’m impressed with Villa. Grealish is a big loss but they’ve brought in quality to keep them towards the top half imo.

On paper probably Palace. Looks like they’ve brought in some talented players and addressed some of the issues in their ageing squad.

That said, I think they could still get relegated due to having a lot of change, losing experience and apparently Viera’s a bit shiiiiit.

People sleeping on Bailey for Villa. Looks a top player, although I’m always wary of players with good numbers in Germany.

I think we have had a good window. All It’s fans asked for a CB, CM and RW, we got two of them.

Chelsea have got a goal scorer, which is what they desperately lacked.

City look weaker to me, without Aguero. Liverpool have mostly stood still but VVD returning is as good as any signing.

Villa's best signing is Bailey. He'll be great to watch.

Are you worried by Liverpools activity, or lack of it? I think you are a bit short in terms of squad depth/options off the bench.

I think you'd have to say Villa on paper despite losing Grealish and their business probably isn't done yet.

Buendia and Bailey especially are two really exciting signings for them.

If we bought a suitable midfielder I'd probably say ourselves but I don't think we'll do that.

Had no idea Villa had signed Young

Aguero barely played last season so not sure City are weaker in a way.

Villa may be adding Ward-Prowse as well

Saints could be a good shout for the drop. Vestergaard is off to Leicester also.

Yep, looks like Saints owners have pulled the plug.

You nailed why I didn't mention Bailey. New league and all from Germany. Cautiously optimistic for lads like him and Sancho although the latter does have some familiarity with English football.

I'm not actually. We're relying on having a decent season with injuries but of you look at the spine of the team.

Allison
Vvd
Konate
Gomez
Fabinho
Henderson
Thiago

All of those missed big parts of the season and if they stay mostly fit we'll be there or there abouts. The AFCON concerns me and where the goals will come from when we lose Salah and Mane but i think we'll push whoever wins it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmmm. We will see. I'm going to have £20 on you finishing outside the top 4.

posted on 11/8/21

If Konate stays fit I think he'll be quite a good signing for Liverpool.

If we couldn't have got Varane I'd have liked him or Kounde.

posted on 11/8/21

Problem with Liverpool, more specifically Klopp's systems, is that increasing amount of injuries year over year of his tenure. I think their key players were rested this summer but it's something to monitor closely.

Supposedly we have a few coming in yet. Kang-in- lee? From Spain one supposedly and Trincao already here but not addressed any pressing needs sadly.

This kid has a contract dispute with Valencia so they're probably gonna offload while they can so they can register players.

Konate would have been too big of a risk for us. Clearly a talent but I think he’s played something like 22 league games in the last 2 seasons.

At least Liverpool have 3 other quality centre backs although 2 of those are also prone to an injury.

Adam Armstrong could be a good buy for Southampton. Surprised Brighton didn’t look at signing him, they are going to be in a relegation battle again unless they sign a striker

He hasn't been injured in all that time though tbf to him. He's been an unused sub in quite a few games too.

Still wouldn’t have touched him with a bargepole. Imagine Jones, Bailly and Konate all in the same squad.

I know what you mean. They’re still likely to get relegated imo but have bought some pretty decent young talent last 12ish months, to counteract their geriatric squad that was bordering on ridiculous. They stay up, they have young stars they can probably still make profit on or if they stay they’ll naturally improve. They get relegated..well basically the same thing.
