Which PL side has had the best summer

As opposed to if they got relegated like 2-3 seasons ago..Zaha and Hodgson would go and they’d really risk just sinking into Chanpionshio oblivion. Now if they get relegated thinj they’re in much stronger position

Just watching the Super Cup and City could do a lot worse than Gerard Moreno if Kane isn’t possible.

Still wouldn’t have touched him with a bargepole.

Like with Cavani?

posted on 11/8/21

Yeah you’d fancy Palace to come straight back up if they do go down. Shame about Eze’s injury, not least because he’s a fun player to watch.

Not sure Cavani’s quite the same seeing as he’s only a back up. I don’t think signing a crock to replace Lindelof would have been wise.

Kounde would be the one it we didn’t get Varane. Looks the most impressive young French cb, and isn’t a crock like the Leipzig lads.

My point is players who have had serious injury problems in the past aren't always the crocks they're made out to be.

While I understand Konate would have been a risk, he's had one serious injury and a few minor ones so I think his injury history is a bit overstated tbh.

posted on 11/8/21

I’ve just seen us make mistakes far too many times with injury prone players to think it’s worth the risk. Cavani’s been a welcome surprise, but I’m still expecting him to start getting injuries again this season.

I just saw Palace’s released list for this summer and it’s large enough to make a match day XI

Bet they probably had a combined age of 500 as well.

As were some other good players. 50 goals in the last 2 seasons.

That wasn’t even the worst deal they made with Liverpool, they signed Benteke.

……

No one is talking about them going to City though.

All I said was that he may not be a bad option. Clearly knows where the goal is.

Villa: I expect Ashley Young, Buendia and Ings to have a good season.

Brighton: Kept Potter and Bissouma, and sold White for a decent fee

Leicester: Daka highly rated in the youth circles, Soumare was on my shortlist for CMs and has done very well for a title winning team. Leicester seems to have a good scouting system so I'm expecting both to pan out.

Spurs: Gil, if he pans out, would put them in this conversation. Surprised it only took Lamela and £20m to get this done. Keeping Kane and getting in a defender is a win in their books.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Villa's best signing is Bailey. He'll be great to watch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you worried by Liverpools activity, or lack of it? I think you are a bit short in terms of squad depth/options off the bench.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not actually. We're relying on having a decent season with injuries but of you look at the spine of the team.

Allison
Vvd
Konate
Gomez
Fabinho
Henderson
Thiago

All of those missed big parts of the season and if they stay mostly fit we'll be there or there abouts. The AFCON concerns me and where the goals will come from when we lose Salah and Mane but i think we'll push whoever wins it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmmm. We will see. I'm going to have £20 on you finishing outside the top 4.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You should be able to get pretty good odds to lose your £20 on...

3/1. A bit short I think to be fair.

Chelsea. They already had a really talented squad with the signings from last year along with the players they promoted to the first team in James and Mount. They just lacked a goalscorer because Werner needs a million chances to bury just 1.

Getting lukaku who will score for fun, can pull defenders away to the right freeing up that left hand channel that Werner likes to operate in will make a huge difference to them.

Not a bad shout - plus they might get Kounde.

Yeah i think that will happen. They also want Moriba from Barca too apparently.

But even just Lukaku, that’s the winner imo. People often judge the most successful window on how many good signings are made, but often that’s a detriment. Getting one player that solves the biggest hole in your squad can have a bigger impact than what Villa have done.

3 of Liverpool’s back 4 have been seriously injury prone over last few seasons, the other is a 30 year old coming back from a serious injury.

The midfield 3 is fine but if anything happens to them their replacements are two other sick notes and young kid.

Strange summer activity to play fire with again by Klopp

Yeah can be the case. Chelsea last season vs City as another example. Everyone said Chelsea had the best transfer window but they ended being worse.

Agreed. I wonder if its Klopp's choice or a lack of backing?

They’ve got a massive squad. And seems they are struggling to move some of their players on for stupid fees because Bournemouth are still in the championship.
