City fans do try to excuse their clubs behaviour and its understandable but also frustrating
If Spurs were doing the same thing I’d happily admit to being happy about it but I would never defend it
It’s clear if you can’t fill a stadium of their size how are they spending money like they do consistently
It’s not as if they are a global brand like United either
Fair enough they have some winnings to spend but that covers the transfer fees
How are they covering the silly wages they pay their squad

Personally I blame United - they haven't shed the mentality they acquired during the Ferguson years of repeatedly breaking transfer records. If you read their board half of it is 'who should we buy next?' And they don't half get through players too - some in and out for a fair bit without kicking a ball in anger.

Pretty much what I was going to say. I think they know there's an element of eye rolling across the football world rather than genuine respect. They are a great team, obviously, but they aren't really hated or respected, not like proper giants of the game.
None of their leagues combined were as annoying as seeing Liverpool win it. I don't expect City fans to care about that one jot but then I'd also expect them to stop acting so insecure. What they are doing isn't so much impressive, it's more just an inevitability.
They are good to watch though.

The same rules weren’t in place then iirc.
You clearly have broken the rules over the years but I’d imagine it’s just doing similar to what Roman did.
Again, just own it.
It was the same for United fans when we had to be told that we were just buying the league because we so regularly set transfer records and we’re by far the biggest financial power throughout the 90s. Did it bother me one bit when rival fans said stuff like that? Not one bit.
