I didn’t understand why Spurs fans were so happy at the time. It was a lot of money spent, without really addressing the issues in the squad.

We had made no signings the previous two windows. We were just buzzing we signed someone, anyone!!

Many of us pointed the finger at Levy for making no signings the summer before but it could have been Poch's idea too. He never really complained about it. He got away scott free because of the consistency he installed in the team. He had so much credit in the bank he was immune from criticitism.

The fact he's wanted by the biggest clubs in the world really shows what some say about him to be totally hilarious.

Not denying Tottenham isn't for him and if he doesn't want it to work out it is done.

A swap deal like this is the best scenario for us and for him to leave as no one will be an outright fee that would be able to buy him.

It's not Ndombele's fault he cost £60m and is on £200k p/w.

He certainly doesn't seem the most professional, but from his perspective he's a young man in a foreign country, lived during lockdown half the time he's been here, on his 4th manager, when the only one that fancied him left after 2 months...

The emphasis is on the club to get the best out of him and they've failed so far. If he was a run of the mill £10m signing then fine you can just discard him, but the amount the club invested in him they should be working harder to get more out of him otherwise it's a huge financial loss.

That last transfer window under Poch looks worse by the day.

Big time.

A good transfer window and Poch would probably still be in a job.

A good DoF working along Poch was needed. As shown he couldn't be trusted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He had Levy working alongside him, what more would you need

That's all true but ndombele was being linked with huge clubs. We got him in early too. No reason we couldn't address other issues as well as signing him. Issue for ages has been not selling players, eriksen should have been sold that summer for instance

Sorry it's a two way street. Can't point the finger at the club. Look at Bruno. Hit the ground running from day one. That's because of him.

I remember Poch saying if he couldn't get his main targets he didn't want any other player.

That summer we did have a big bid accepted for De Jong from Ajax but he rejected us.

Yeah I get the excitement over having any signings, but it was obvious to even me you’d failed to address the issues in the team.

Central midfield and defence was clearly the big problem in that Spurs team, and still is. Yet you went out and spunked £150(?) on two attacking midfielders and two young wingers.

Clearly not a box to box one. He is more of CAM due to his lack of mobility.

Him getting on the field in the first place seemed an issue ever since he signed.

Hes had more than just one good game but OK.

On tolisso, apparently he's missed 81 games through injury in 5 years and his contract expires next summer lol

Would prefer a different player in a swap, like Mckenzie at Juve

Not being a b2b CM doesn't make you automatically a CAM lol

Phenom, but he didn’t address the issues in central midfield. Notably, how teams can just run straight through it. Nor did it solve the issues of creativity.

I get that you wanted to gamble on potential, but that isn’t my point. Spurs just didn’t make the team stronger. And it probably cost Poch his job, and contributed to the mess you’re in now due to falling out of the CL.

People are laughing at Arsenal this summer for buying potential and not solving the actual problems in the team, Spurs did the same thing that summer.

I said he is more of CAM. He is not DM. He is defo not a CM which in my mind is a B2B like Skipp and PEH. You would trust Ndombele to play a double pivot would you?

Sell him along with Sissoko and Winks and invest the money in 1 top class midfielder.

Then we can moan about that guy in 2 seasons time.

Our damage was already done in my eyes doing fack all in terms of transfers for a year and a half, that one summer we never could have done everything we needed, of course we could have done better but the decline had already begun.

Ps couldn't give a fack about arsenal

Why do you think he talked about the club needing to show more ambition?

Yeah and when push came to shove he signed 4 players who didn't address anything.

Yes but the decline was in the areas you failed to address. It’s easy to say it was all because you didn’t make transfers the year before, and that you couldn’t fix everything, but when you had the opportunity to fix the biggest problems that summer, you didn’t.

The club signed them. How much input he had in them is unknown. As he will attest to, it wasn't that much seemingly, as he complained about only being a coach rather than a manager.

If you think the club signed 4 players without his input after signing no one the previous 2 windows you are in cuckoo land.

Levy "By the way Poch, I am breaking our record transfer fee on Ndombele. You crack on mate". Come on !!
