Not he’s below Verts & Toby for me but I don’t think we ever saw the best of him due to injuries

One of our best? Yes.

The best? Only Verts and Toby sincecan get near him IMO.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but Judas is the best defender that has played for Spurs in the Prem era (even if his “best” was elsewhere).

"I will never forget our 2-1 win against Chelsea at the Lane where Arjen Robben burst through on goal and like Superman out of nowhere, somehow Ledley king managed to chase him and put in a last ditch unbelievable tackle. That and many more were part of his game, outstanding."

Little off topic but over the weekend I watched a lot of mousa dembele clips and convinced myself he's the most underrated PL player ever

As for ledders I think the injuries make it hard to put him ahead of the Belgians but in terms of a pure centre back talent he was probably better than both

Ledley King was the top defender of his generation.
First played for Spurs first team at age 18.
The England selectors took him to the WC in South Africa knowing full well he would not be able to play two games a week.
His career was cut short by a congenital bone defect which affected his knees.
He trained a lot of the time in swimming pools....just like some race horses!

At the top of their careers I would chose Ledley King over any other Spurs defender.
You can find YouTube videos of some of his plays, including his speed of recovery on run back.

Very overrated tackle there. If memory serves it’s a bouncing ball over the top that robben takes forever to control and get a shot off.

Don, I liked Ledley a lot. But would put both Toby and Verts in front of him.

Mind you they didn't have to play alongside Cement Boots.

Anyone that thinks Ledleys tackle on Robben was over rated is absolutely clueless with football. Look at the ground he made up ffs ?

A video of Ledleys brilliance. If it wasn’t for injuries, he would have been as good as John Terry 100%

Never underestimate Nicks ability to sniff out a post vaguely derogatory to Chelsea or a Chelsea player and come rushing in to defend the player/club regardless of context, accuracy, relevance etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely ridiculous. Just admit it was an outstanding piece of defending. Robben didn’t know what hit him.

King was immense. Could barely train for large parts of his career but imo he was as good as Terry/Ferdinand at defending imo just played in a much worse team. Let's not forget woodgate went to Real Madrid and King was way way better. Goes under the radar when people talk about PL great defenders.

Sandy of course is a joke as usual.
Vertonghen and Alderweireld were both very good defenders, no doubt. And they have done well for Belgium.
But neither of them had King's speed of recovery.
But King was more, he was a captain and commander, and an inspiration to the players around him.
I only hope he is having some effect on the defenders we have today!

Totally agree. I love Toby and Verts, but Ledley king was the daddy of defenders for me. Better defender Ledley was for me.
