This place is fun sometimes.
He's clearly not terrible
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is terrible. Out of the 4 championship level players we had in our squad at the beginning viz AWB, Lindelof, Fred, Dan James, he is the worst. Just because we have an inept manager who plays him 50 times in a season in spite of knowing his shortcomings doesn't mean he is a good player. Next year this time he will be playing in the championship.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He isn't terrible though is he? You can pick faults in his game and that's fair enough but he's not terrible.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Simpletons still holding that 2nd place (which was is as meaningful as finishing 4th). That's because you folks have nothing else to cling on to for our managers/ and his favorite players' defense.

He is terrible and certainly not Utd quality. I would argue he is championship level.
There are average players for ex McTominay, Bailly, Lingard and then there are terrible players like Fred, AWB etc.
If we had someone like Kyle Walker or Alexander Arnold we'd challenge for the league no kidding. AWB is the weakest spot along with Fred. Even a peak 2013 Ronaldo won't be able to bail Ole out unless we get 2 upgrades at RB/ DM

It's a stupid question. But i'll still entertain you. We finished 2nd ( a million points away from City so that 2nd place is meaningless) because Liverpool lost their entire central defense and Chelsea had to contend with their equivalent of Ole who they sacked at the right time.
Like it or not we have a few world class players in our squad and just like every organization those handful of players carried us to 2nd spot and the rest of the donkeys (AWB, Dan James, Lindelof, Fred) were just to fill the 11 spots on the pitch
I thought Fred was the whancor at United

Nah, pathetic answer. Look, I'll have a go for you. I suppose there are two possible answers:
1) A manager who doesn't know what he's doing and 4 championship players were carried to 2nd in the Premier league by 7 World Class players. (Except that can't be the case because I know the only players in our starting line up who you probably really rate highly are Bruno, Shaw and Pogba? Maybe 1 or 2 others).
2) You are talking absolute bollox, as usual.
I already know what the answer is, by the way.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is a championship level player. Period. He wouldn't look out of place in Tony Pulis' Stoke City teams of the past. In fact he doesn't even have the physicality needed to succeed in those teams who for a couple of seasons were a solid mid table team.
He will struggle to get game time at Norwich, Newcastle who will probably go down this season. Horrendous player. My eyes bleed every time he has the ball.

You can call AWB terrible given the standards set at United IMO. As another poster said, he is lot worse than Valencia who was one of our worse FBs. That is quite terrible.

If Dalot doesn't discover an unlikely Beast Mode given a run of games and we're *really* looking outside the box at solutions, then surely the hipster move is to play three at the back and convert Sancho into a super-attacking wing back. That also allows us to play both Pogba and Bruno without having the same degree of vulnerability to the counter-attack. And Ronaldo and Greenwood as a classic target man / runner front two.

He used to stop, turn inside and pass the ball back into the middle rather than go for the byline for a cutback or cross in his later years. Loads of full backs and wingers do this, it's frustrating as hell (England in the Euros down the right hand side for example).
Best season he had was when every Rooney goal seemed to be a header from a Valencia cross, glorious stuff.
