Bringing in VDS as chief exec is magical thinking. It's extremely clear that the Glazers want someone who prioritises increasing revenue streams running the organisation day to day. This is why Woodward has been rock solid in his position while presiding over an era of extended sporting failure. Woodward hasn't been a failure from the Glazers' point of view, because he has enacted the commercial strategies they have ask him to.
We don't have joined-up footballing strategies and structures across the organisation, we don't invest in the long-term, and that's why we end up splashing out desperately to try to close gaps that have appeared, when more ambitious and smart investment in know-how would give us far better returns. As such, I kind of expect the club to go for whichever available manager is best known and least suited to the job at hand.
Can't fault your logic there, RR. Cristiano it is, then
Why did you have to say that, Post? It's the perfect appointment from a Glazer point of view. Just imagine the social engagement.
apparently he took over the half time team talk against Atalanta. He's got the credentials.

I was looking at the next manager odds last night and he was 4th favourite!!! It's actually considered to be a real possibility, based on that

Someone has probably stuck a bit of money on him. Or a few have stuck smaller bets on when the odds were higher.

Steve Bruce. Ex player, winner as a player, never given resources but has got Villa and Birmingham promoted from the Championship and kept an awful Newcastle in the Premier.
This obsession with the biggest and brightest names has to end. You nearly killed Moyes' career off when, if the 'fans' had any patience, he could have brought success. He has 1/20th the amount of money to spend at West Ham but has built a better squad that plays better football.
But you hounded him out because he wasn't a big name.
I would love to see what Steve Bruce could do with one third the money that the likes of Mourinho, LVG and Ole were given. I believe it's £1.2BN between them, isn't it.
Steve Bruce, £400m budget, 5 year contract.

What a load of schit

I wonder why he thinks United supporters hounded Moyes out?

No to Steve Bruce, but you are bang on about Moyes.
Moyes should never been sacked so quick.
He inherited a squad that were 'fortunate' defending champions and with an aged/poor midfield, crap fullbacks/gk and little up front of any real threat. It was going to take 5 years to sort it out, but he above most others would have done it. Instead we gave now had almost a decade of a continuing shapeless, directionless mess.
