I’m pretty sure there was an incentive to get houses insulated a few years back - in the house we lived in before this one we got cavity wall and loft insulation put in free of charge.

The government pulled it recently

I’m sure they’ve gone through the process of emailing their local mp, petitioning parliament etc and they know they’re being ignored.
Not sure how you can get angry about people wanting the gov to fund insulating your home to save you power and money.
“I don’t want a heat pump to save me money I want to keep using facking gas! Violating my freedoms! It’s like vaccine passports all over again!”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's something for you to think about...
Who pays for all the heat pumps?
Who fits them all???
Do they really save you money?
If you can't get a grant, how do you fund it?
What happens if you live in an old house, say Victorian, or Georgian with solid walls?
I can tell you, having had a quote for one 2 years ago and the heating engineer telling me it would cost me 3 times more in electric to run it, unless I get my walls cladded, floors dug out and underfloor heating put in, new bigger radiators in every room and my hot water would still only be lukewarm.

I personally don't agree with protestors who create issues like this, by blocking the roads, to get across their point. They may say that they are getting the attention of the people this way, but you aren't going to get very far by hacking people off in the process, it has to be done the correct way and it will only make people rebel.
Also, not all houses can be insulated. You can't insulate a stone house as there is no cavity and it would create damp within parts where the insulation would be anyway. You can only add insulation internally.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Correct. My current house is a an old farm house, made of stone - no cavities for insulation. We’ve had the loft and cellar done but that’s as far as it can go. Luckily I’ve got a huge coal burner that keeps us nice and toasty all winter...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm same, I'm on oil. I got a new boiler, which is great and have a massive log burner. Luckily I have ash dying all over the place and have a lifetime of free firewood. It's about as good as it will get in lifetime. Because there's only so much you do.

So many more reasons around this why the country is fckd up not least appalling new build quality so that even recent builds still leak like a 3 yo supermarket bag. Very small % of houses are totally suitable. You can help a bit by augmenting with solar, even more with a battery because you are right the electricity bill will go up and you need another £10k capital. Not to mention added complexity and maintenance.
Does anyone know how to create CO2 without it being used for anything productive or being part of a bi-product of a productive process? I need to create some extra needless CO2 to get back at these protesters. I want to create it as fast as possible, for it to serve no purpose, and emit it directly into the atmosphere. Extra points if we could add like brown food dye to it or something to make it look even worse as well. Our side needs to fight back and this is the only way. Hit it where it hurts them. In their poxy planet.

How about every hour, on the hour whilst they are protesting, we execute a panda by chopping a tree down and it landing on them? We could set up a screen on the M25 and beam it straight to the hippies. Then we will see how much they like their facking planet. The more you protest, the more we kill it. Hi Ace, if you can find an example of a ‘peaceful’ protest implementing wide scale change, and fast. I think that would be a worthwhile exercise for all of us. I feel like you are three posts away from telling us you can grow concrete.

China, USA and India are responsible for 50% of CO2 emissions globally while Britain produces less than 1%
Stop buying cheap trash from China, boycott McDs and KFC and don’t buy cheap clothing made in an Indian sweatshop if you want to protest

That's also a pretty valid point. Protest for these changes if necessary but you're protesting in the wrong areas, quite literally by being sat on a motorway.
Not saying they are wrong or even that it shouldn't be done, but the impact on a global scale would be miniscule.
