A case of the bitters!

It’s definitely been a work in progress but you hzve to commend Bates, nearly bankrupted us but always had plans for success and reaching the pinnacle.

96/97 we won the fa cup and started getting European football. Brought in the likes of Zola, desially, lebeouf, poyet, some world class or near world class players. And then when Roman came in the rest is history. The reluctance to rest on your laurels should be a huge example to other clubs.

Thats right Nick, Bates and Harding laid the foundations.

Bates was no none sense, but at the time it was what the club needed.

I will be eternally grateful to both him and the late Mathew Harding.

Daley and Trotter over in North London could both do with taking a lesson in humility. Look at the way Kane has been treated !

On the topic of women's teams:

I know the Arsenal men's team have been diabolical for a while now, but we still have a very good women's side.

I actually think our women's team is the best in the league right now, under the new manager (Eidevall).

We're playing each other in the FA Cup final on the 5th December, which will be interesting.

Chelsea under Emma Hayes have dominated the domestic scene for the past 5-6 years. I'm keen to see if that's about to change.

A touch of fortune for the womens team yesterday as City had 10 players out injured

Your manager isn't doing very well overall though, Boris. Gareth Taylor needs to be sacked unfortunately. You're not performing anywhere close to how you should be.

Do you ? look at the spuds.

One of the big 6 ,

Maybe its better to inhabit a creeking stadium and try to get it right where it matters , on the pitch.

You need a new stadium. Which looks unlikely to happen any time soon.

Spurs. Arsenal. West Ham.

All upgraded their stadiums. Have shown minimal signs of sustained improvement since. None have had our success.

Why? It’s a shame due to space restrictions we couldn’t get to 50,000 or so. Could we sell out a 70,000, yes. But is it that worth it? I doubt it with sponsorships etc the main money earner nowadays

Chelsea have had their fair share of success over those 25 years but have never had sustained success. They have had the odd top division title and various cups but have not had a "dynasty" in the way that Liverpool and Man Utd have (and possibly Man City to follow).

Depends, I kind of see the 2004-2012 journey to the CL as an era in and of itself.

Over the past 20 years, you can't argue with Chelsea's success at all. They have won literally every trophy there is to win multiple times over.

And although it may have taken me a while to accept the unfortunate reality, they are a bigger and more prosperous club than Arsenal nowadays.

This would have been unthinkable to me a decade or so ago, as I truly believed Arsenal were going to make it back to the top again.

Because the more people you have to watch your team, the better. I'm not fussed about income of whatever else comes with it, to have a ground with a 42,000 capacity, with the size Chelsea now are, is not enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------you said chelsea “need”. Truth is that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Really dude (u1016)

Id say continued success over 25 years is sustained.i believe we have won more silverware than any other club in the EPL over the last 20 years.

But hey as a humble grateful CFC supporter our fair share will do.

Utd have had two sustained periods since the 60's, but are now on their way to possibly a 10 year + void.

Liverpool, only the 70s 80s sustained , in the last 30 years the occasional success over 1 or 2/3 yr individual periods.
They have only won the EPL once in the 30 years, i think that puts them into perspective.

City and Cfc have emerged at a cost to Utd, Liverpool and Afc.

Today going forward , over the next 6 years,id fancy CFC's chances of picking up silverware over that of both Utd and Liverpool

We've won five European cups in nine years whilst throwing in Prem titles & domestic cups...i'd say that's getting near dynasty level
