If gerrard wants the liverpool gig hes going to have to have a job betwedn the two and villa is (imo) a great chance to do that.

I’d argue our rebuild this summer was bigger than anything Gerrard had to do. Although it’s probably close in terms of in’s and out’s overall for first season, I think we’ll add another 3 and lose 2/3 in January.

Disagree, Ange had a better base of players to work with than Gerrard when he came in .... and has so far spent twice the amount Gerrard did in his first year (and most likely will spend more). he also had more experience than Gerrard, Ange has had experience in rebuilding a team.

Odd because they were definitely winning the league under Warburton. They knew they had us beat after winning a cup game on penalties.

He has also come into a club with a very recent culture of huge success and the financial clout to back him in a way that SG couldnt.

Whether we won a cup or didnt the fact is Rangers are currently at a level way way above we were at when SG came in.

FFS we are sitting 4 points ahead of celtic and I for one am pretty gutted it isnt at least 8 points.

We are a bit disappointed that we have to win at home against Sparta Prague by 2 goals to almost guarantee progression to the knock out stages of the Europa for the third year in a row.

Thats not a bad measure of where SG has taken us.

So as much as Celtic fans are desperate for us to be disappointed with SG - unfortunately, as it stands, we just arent.

I'll be honest, see unless it's part of the Treble I'm not that fussed about the cups if we win the league.

The Scottish Cup is a decent consolation but the League Cup I'd play a youth team tbh. The league is the be all and end all.

I dont think anyone is saying that.

But the point blank refusal to consider the context of SGs time at Rangers or the bigger picture of where we were as a club does kind of suggest you are genuinely gutted that Rangers fans are happy with what Gerrard has done so far.

At the end of the day it doesnt matter.

We have a title winning manager who has built a pretty decent squad and we are happy.

Some celtic fans seem to think hes a dud and therefor you would have to assume think the threat he offers is minimal - well seeing all last season was down to Lennon/covid. So Celtic fans should be happy he is still in place.

He got a 3 year extension on his contract 18 months in as well despite winning nothing in that time. Should say all there is to know about whether he was under any pressure to win a trophy in that time.
