It is Michael Carrick in charge. Someone who came to Man Utd and took us to next level as a player.

What they did as a player means jack shiiit. Roy Keane was a crap manager and Carrick has be complicit in Utds expensive demise.

I won’t mind if he manages to the end of the season as he is one of my favourite players and he will know how to get the team controlling games.

Ole biggest flaw is he tried to play the same way and picked his favourites no matter what.

In light of the current headline on BBC, who do you reckon are the bigger winners if utd get Poch - you or them?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We all love Pochettino, but Conte is one of the best managers in Europe and a proven winner, so 100% Spurs are the winners in this.

I think both clubs would be winning. We need Poch as much as you needed Conte 👍

You talk as if United are run by decisive switched on people who have a long term plan.

No I don’t. It’s just obvious that we didn’t want Conte. It’s not arrogance, it’s been well established that Conte was desperate for the United job and we didn’t call him.

The only chump is you coming on here giving it the big one about United not wanting Conte

…..

By coming on here you mean the United board. Where else would I be? And me giving you the facts obviously seems to hurt you in some way..

Bit if you want to delude yourself in some weird alternate reality where Conte chose Spurs over United fill your boots.

Has anyone said we are in great shape. Conte didn't really make sense for a number of reasons. Primarily that our squad is not suited to his style of play/preferred formation. We have an abundance of attacking players, especially wide attacking players, and maybe one competent attacking FB. He just didn't make sense for us at this time. That doesn't mean that he isn't a very good manager. Or that he won't do a good job for Spurs. It just means that we didn't want him.

Enjoy finishing outside the top 4 and winning as much as you have in the previous 10 years.

You dont have the players or resources to do anything.

It will go down as one of those "What If" moments for Manchester United fans.

Great manager Conte, love the passion he brings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it won’t, Conte obviously wasn’t who we wanted otherwise we’d have appointed him.

It’s daft that people think that Conte’s future destination was contingent on the result of who won that game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Disagree with this Darren. We know how incompetent the United board are in that there's a high chance they didn't sound out Conte because they weren't in a position to sound out any manager.

It's been widely reported by various reliable outlets that the United board didn't have any plans in place at all to replace Ole at that time and clearly Carrick's appointment now shows they didn't have any plans in place before the Watford game either, but that result has forced their hand.

If United had been on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat by Spurs that day, I think there's a good chance would have sounded out Conte the next day like Spurs did.

posted on 22/11/21

I think either is possible really.

I mean after the Liverpool game you'd have thought Utd had to start to plan a successor, or at least I would, and yet here with are with Carrick in temp charge... this was a month ago.

Doesn't seem particularly organised.

You can be incompetent and not want a manager. That game wouldn’t have made a difference, we got humiliated by City a week later and he still kept his job. Losing to Watford like that is a step too far. The reason there’s no plan to replace him now is because we obviously want Pochettino. Conte was never going to get the United job, it’s pretty well known. I get that you won’t know as you aren’t a United fan, but when enough United fans are telling you and there’s enough info in the media out there about this, you should probably consider that what you are saying is a fantasy.

Fair enough, we’ll never know. I think they may have been tempted by an immediate long solution even if he wasn’t first choice though.

Long term*

But he isn’t a long term solution. It’s why we’ve wanted Pochettino for ages, he’s just not been available when we’ve had a job opening. That looks likely to change.

The days of Fergie and extensive contracts are long gone. United are not the draw they use to be. Conte would of been ideal for you boys. He would of raised your stock again in Europe and layed a proper platform for you to kick on. I love Pochettino but I wouldn't choose him over Conte.

posted on 22/11/21

There’s a middle ground between long term contracts in today’s terms and Fergie. Conte’s a better manager than Pochettino, but he’s not a good fit for our squad or what the club actually wants. Which is why he’s at Spurs instead of United.

I wouldn't be too dismissive on Conte's ability to work with squads that need a bit of work. He's made a career out of it. I know the United board didn't fancy Conte due to corporate reasons but I presume you didn't agree with that decision?
