I always like these types of articles where after all the suggestions, it all comes back to The Wire.
The G.O.A.TV
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So overrated
---------------------------------------------------------------------
How very dare you.
No, I’m not gonna derail the thread. It always goes down like this, then finally by the 200th page, you all realise I’m Right. And You’re Wrong!!

Lambeau, we go a ways back me and you.
Just a couple of regular guys shooting the breeze.
You say what you say, and I do what I gotta do. And now if I'm there and I gotta put you away, cos of you talking reckless about The Wire, I won't like it. But I tell you, brother, you are going down.

"Dark" on Netflix is amazing. Watch in german with subtitles, the dubbing is dreadful.

There is a documentary series on Now TV/Sky called "100ft Wave"... even if you don't like surfing, it's an amazing watch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
+1 on 100ft wave, very good. Movies that made us is worth a watch, succession, billions, are great

Money heist (Netflix) was gripping stuff, very clever storyline but gotta agree Oz was pure class back in the day, some brilliant characters and being repeated at the moment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only watch S1 & S2 of Money Heist. After that it is garbage and ridiculous.

Something that's not woke:

It's always sunny in philadelphia - Brilliant
Narcos + Narcos Mexico - Brilliant
Seinfeld - A classic, Brilliant
Afterlife - Funny
Clarkson's Farm

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I love it’s always sunny. Shame they’ve got rid of a few episodes in case it “offends” people. One of the episodes they got rid of was where they create a lethal weapon sequel. That was one of my favourite episodes

Oz was amazing. JK Simmons was great as Schillinger. Such a horrible character!

Hasn't Dexter started up again? I liked the original series but there was a drop in quality towards the end and it became a bit soap opera..ish.

There are too many great episodes, but the leathal weapon ones are right up there, I had no idea they'd removed those episodes, the irony of it.

Watching Showtrial on iPlayer which has been pretty good so far, got one episode to go. Succession is great too and worth getting into, very slick and the people involved have worked on The Thick of It, VEEP and Peep Show so it’s very funny at times, in a cutting, sarcastic sort of way.

Dexter’s back on, same feel in a different location and has retained some of the best bits of the show, you haven’t had to suspend your disbelief too much which was an issue after about series four of the original.

The new series of Curb Your Enthusiasm is on Sky at the moment, the “middling” episode and Leon being self conscious about enjoying watermelon were classic Curb storylines.

The Outlaws on iPlayer is a decent watch, group of people on community service set in Bristol made by Steve Merchant with Christopher Walken. It’s not a drama but has some serious moments and is an easy watch.

Succession is a decent watch but slightly overrated. Some boring enough episodes.

I have a VPN so still watch iPlayer (weirdly I keep watching Eastenders as it’s a lifelong addiction now) and have watched all but one of the Outlaws. Soooo good. Lady Gabby 😻

Ozark not mentioned yet? Odd.

I'll check out Stateless, as I've quite liked the Aussie series I've watched recently - Secret City and Pine Gap, although I can't remember if I actually finished watching the latter or not.

Another Aussie series no-one seems to take me seriously on is Love on the Spectrum.

I've always thought dating shows are a pathetic idea and steered well clear of them, but I was irresistibly curious about this one. It's a window in on a world that you really know nothing about if you haven't encountered autism in adults in real life.

Greatest sitcom of all time imo.

The removed episodes are ridiculous though. The whole point of the episodes is to take the pīss out of the gang's ignorance.

I forgot Ozark but yes, brilliant. Next series starts next month 🥳

And yes, Love on the spectrum was amazing. Very much recommended for everyone to watch as you say, it’s a window into a world that we don’t often see. Quite interesting to see how hard they have it but how incredibly well they cope in some challenging situations.

Another couple of shows I've enjoyed, without actually being 'blown away' by them:

Ethos - Turkish story about a psychologist, her patient, and their relationships.

Godless - Western about a town where all the men are killed in a mining accident and the women have to defend themselves from a band of outlaws. Gets a bit predictable towards the end, but was good fun nevertheless.

They seem to be going over old ground a bit this series, Logan’s health, failed takeovers, talk of succeeding Logan etc. I still love the dialogue and the production though.

Actually starts, or filming starts?

I really liked the first season of LotS, because it's sensitive and respectful, but doesn't try to sugarcoat things with happy endings. Season two I found a bit disappointing precisely because of that, though I suppose some people need to be told that it's all going to end well.

It's weird how quickly I forget some shows nowadays. I think it's because most of my viewing time is late night, and when I sit down in the evening a part of my brain just automatically switches off. I have the strong impression I absolutely loved the latest season of BCS, but couldn't for the life of me recall any of it right now. Every year I find myself having to watch back about a season and a half of it so I know where I am when I start watching the new one.

I'm sure we have this discussion every six months and I usually name the same things.

- An upvote Rosso's Chernobyl
- Fargo
- Atlanta

From the OP:
- Better Call Saul - one of the greatest pieces of televisual art ever
- Seeeex Education is very watchable but I can't get my head around how wilfully unrealistic it is both in terms of the universe it creates (weird mix of US high school and UK location; demographics of metropolis but set in rural idyll; kind of contemporary but everyone driving 80s cars - feels like the whole thing is drenched in a sickly haze of nostalgia that's quite distracting) and ridiculous scenarios like being able to check someone's smartphone without having to unlock it.

Season 4 is actually being shown on Netflix from 22nd Jan 👍

Agree about the ‘remembering’ of shows. Once a new series starts I go back and watch the last couple of episodes of the previous series just to get back into the groove. It doesn’t help that I spread my brain thinly between actual life, movies, TV, football, AFL and cricket.
