You moved to Tottenham from Chelsea, did your time at Chelsea affect your time at Tottenham? Or was the rivalry not what it is now?
Oh, it was fierce! I mean, Spurs was always the club, even growing up, that you hated Spurs. When you played them, you had to beat them. That was one of the biggest, if not the biggest game and Arsenal, but there was something about us playing Spurs that stood out, from the U15’s, U16’s, youth team and reserves. So they were always big games that stood out.
It came out of the blue really, Ian Porterfield phoned me up, after Sheffield United at home, I scored actually, my last game. I later found out that the deal was only going to happen if we got knocked out of the FA Cup, we lost to Sunderland in the replay of the Quarter Finals at Roker Park. I found later, had we won that game, I wouldn’t have made that move possibly until the summer, depending on if we had gone on to win the cup, so that move was always down to us getting knocked out of the FA Cup, back then, there was a transfer deadline day, where you had to move by the last Thursday of March, which we got knocked out the previous week before deadline day. There was a lot of things that happened around that move that I wasn’t aware of before the move took place. Then I got a phone call from Ian Porterfield, this was on a Monday, he said ‘we’ve accepted a bid for you and Terry Venables is going to phone you this afternoon’. Which was a complete shock! I said to him ‘what does this mean’? Does this mean if I don’t go, will I be in the reserves? Don’t forget, the clubs held all the cards. They could have done all sorts of things, forced you to play in the reserves, not pick you. I said is there a possibility that will happen? He said ‘I want you to play for the first team, I don’t want you to go‘, but he couldn’t offer me any more guarantees than he wanted to. He was very honest with me, to the point where he said I don’t want you to go, but of course when a club has made their decision, I had to make mine. Once a club has accepted an offer for you, you have got to go, with players now, you don’t often see a club, in fact I can’t think of any real situation where an offer has been accepted and the player has not gone. Once you’re in a scenario with a club, that’s decided the money is more important than you are.

Cheers Luka
I can understand the rivalry (even hatred) towards Spurs before he joined us but you would think that would disappear to a large extent once he pulled on the shirt.
I think he's trying too hard to stay popular with Chelsea fans who probably give him stick for playing for us.

Sorry…………..it as another Jason for me.
Cundy was an awful player and now an even worse pundit!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a massive khunt with a huge chip on his shoulder about Spurs. The guy was celebrating Sterling’s last gasp goal against us in the CL quarter final like he had just won the lottery, the look on his face when it was ruled out was priceless.
All he ever did for us was score that fluke goal at Portman road
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I watch that video with a huge smile on my phone. Seeing Jason Cundy go from absolute euphoria ( weird ) at Spurs going out the CL, to almost crying when the goal got ruled out by VAR the Kathryn thing is, it didn’t even involve Chelsea. That’s how obsessed Chelsea, Westham and Arsenal fans are of seeing Spurs not getting any success. Honestly it will be the sweetest thing on the planet when we eventually win a major trophy and we can shove it in their faces.

Personally I find the Gooners aren’t too bothered, but Chelsea and West Ham in particular really really care. I get the small time mentality with the Whammers but not Chelsea. West Ham have to be the bitterest and at times most deluded fan base to ever exist.

My cousin went to Brum Uni and I remember asking him what the locals were like.
He said Villa fans were fine and were safe in the knowledge that they are the biggest club in the area however City fans were wracked with jealousy and seemed to want Villa to lose more than the Blues to win.
That's how I see alot of West Ham fans, us doing badly seems more important than their success.

Yes, but Chelsea are the same. Incredibly successful unfortunately . I wish they weren’t and I wish they disappeared into oblivion, but they sing about Spurs every home game. They are literally obsessed. Look at the Chelsea Spurs title decider as a prime example. They finished mid table that season, yet celebrated that Hazard goal to win Leicester the title like they had just won the CL again. Westham being inferior and smaller I agree, but Chelsea don’t really have much to be jealous about as they win trophies. We seem to be so rent free in their heads it’s incredible. A lot of my fringes are curlers fans and all they sing about when they go to the bridge is Anti Spurs songs

Yes when Arsenal play Chelsea both fans usually have a rendition of "stand up if you hate Tottenham" at half time and of course West Ham fans sing "we hate Tottenham more than you" when they go to the Emirates.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes when Arsenal play Chelsea both fans usually have a rendition of "stand up if you hate Tottenham" at half time and of course West Ham fans sing "we hate Tottenham more than you" when they go to the Emirates.
I have to say I love it, for me its the old Millwall way of looking at things, no one likes us and we don't care.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, but Millwall are hated because a lot of their fan base are racist white trash from the depths of hell Bermondsey. We tend to get a lot of hate, despite being pretty unsuccessful of recent. Westham and Chelsea are obsessed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't forget anti-Semitism, that's where alot of it stems from.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep it’s often the knuckle dragging southern clubs that hate us.

Seeing Jason Cundy go from absolute euphoria ( weird ) at Spurs going out the CL, to almost crying when the goal got ruled out by VARthe Kathryn thing is, it didn’t even involve Chelsea. That’s how obsessed Chelsea, Westham and Arsenal fans are of seeing Spurs not getting any success. Honestly it will be the sweetest thing on the planet when we eventually win a major trophy and we can shove it in their faces.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally I find the Gooners aren’t too bothered, but Chelsea and West Ham in particular really really care. I get the small time mentality with the Whammers but not Chelsea. West Ham have to be the bitterest and at times most deluded fan base to ever exist.

He said Villa fans were fine and were safe in the knowledge that they are the biggest club in the area however City fans were wracked with jealousy and seemed to want Villa to lose more than the Blues to win.

When we went to support Chelsea at Arsenal it was not tense or nasty, compared to West Ham especially, lol.
Massive generalisation, but gunners fans were soft, whereas, hammers, West ham and spurs were up for it.No offence Pawl or gooners😀
As a Chelsea fan, spurs are biggest London rivals, but Liverpool are most disliked by blues.
Personally, I am old enough to remember great spurs and pool teams, so try to maintain sporting perspective🥰

Cundy is just a massive khunt

My cousin went to Brum Uni and I remember asking him what the locals were like.
He said Villa fans were fine and were safe in the knowledge that they are the biggest club in the area however City fans were wracked with jealousy and seemed to want Villa to lose more than the Blues to win.
That's how I see alot of West Ham fans, us doing badly seems more important than their success.
So small minded!!

And when he walks down the street
All the people he meets
They say, hey, gorgeous, what’s your name?

When we went to support Chelsea at Arsenal it was not tense or nasty, compared to West Ham especially, lol.
Massive generalisation, but gunners fans were soft, whereas, hammers, West ham and spurs were up for it.No offence Pawl or gooners😀
As a Chelsea fan, spurs are biggest London rivals, but Liverpool are most disliked by blues.
Personally, I am old enough to remember great spurs and pool teams, so try to maintain sporting perspective🥰
