I thought it was a good performance, not our best , got train to Stafford and by chance found it’s not a bad plan to have a drink there before the game , a friend believes we are being offered players by Spurs to swop for Traore, and Dele Ali could be the right midfielder for us , good player but a bit sulky looking

Yes we've got some decent boozers in Stafford these days, where did you go?

We inexplicably walked past all the pubs in Wolverhampton today and decided to pay double pub prices for shat beer in the ground. My bloody round too.

The other half was hob nobbing it with Debbie Hewitt chair of the FA at Port Vale today. However rather lobbying her for the abolition of VAR, after googling her and discovering that she was also chair of the White Stuff clothing chain, she pestered her about a petite range for short @rses like her. Ms Hewitt promised to put it on the agenda for the next board meeting. Missed opportunity that.

Coady on Traore:

"I was more happy for him than I was for me. He is one of the hardest working people I have ever met. He worked so hard for it and I hope he can build on it.

"He plays like he does every single week, I don't think there is any footballer like him in the world.

"His power, aggression, the way he runs, and how quick he is, it is a pleasure to have him here. We hope he stays with us as long as possible because when he is like today he is unplayable."

Makes me think I might have been a bit harsh on the lad. Would genuinely love hime to stay and fulfil his potential.

The cheer that went up when he scored was as loud as we’ve heard all season. No question the crowd are behind him and are willing him to succeed, and stay

it was taken over by the black country pubs chain last year and given a nice makeover. Lovely beers in there.

Was good to see him score minutes after what may have been the worst miss he had ever had with us.

After picking up another 3 points against Saints yesterday we currently have 31, the same as we had at this stage in Nuno's 3rd season at the club. Hat's off to Bruno Lage who is achieving this with an inherited squad of players.
15.01.22 - points 31
15.01.21 - points 22
15.01.20 - points 31
15.01.19 - points 29

Next Saturday we play Brentford who, before that, have games against Liverpool today and Man U on Wednesday. Let's hope they get soundly beaten in both games to knock the stuffing out of them and pave the way for our next 3 points.

Bruno has over achieved against my expectations so far and the team is improving all the time. Remaining solid in defence and looking more productive on the attacking side. Neves will be back for the next game and soon after that Saiss will return and we are now not far from seeing the return of Neto, Jonny and Mosquera. And yesterday we saw a new addition to the first team squad in Gomes who had a really good debut. And Fabio is looking good now which gives us more up front. So multiple additions in this transfer window are really not needed as long as we don’t sell. Still like to have an attacking goalscoring midfield player though

Agreed. Multiple additions in this window are not needed, if only we could get Cinci to realise this though.

We do need an attacking goal scoring midfielder, it’s getting the right one that’s the problem. We don’t want the wrong one. The right one. Remember?

Pretty much summed it up for me too Spangles
Midfield does seem our short in numbers. and an addition would be welcome. Having said that, we do have some young potential coming through, and of course Morgan Gibbs White, who surely must return for next season, and could fill that role very nicely.

I don't see MGW being a premier league player myself, will make an excellent Championship or lower league player IMO.
The emphasis has definitely shifted to needing an attacking midfielder and I think most are on board with that.

posted on 16/1/22

I certainly would not write off Morgan Gibbs White, and I would be surprised if Wolves, weren't thinking the same way.

A young dynamic talent, will have gained a lot from a hugely successful season with Sheffield. I can't imagine Wolves not bringing him back.

posted on 16/1/22

I think MGW has lots of natural ability but has often seemed low on confidence when playing in the first team. Having a full season in a decent championship team should have helped that. Hope to see him given some chances in pre season games for us in the summer then it’s up to him to show if he’s ready for the step up

Can Gomes be seen as an addition to the squad, or will he be back off to Switzerland when Saiss returns?

posted on 16/1/22

We wait and see wulfrun but yesterday he certainly looked good enough to me

Comes across well, and will definitely have done himself no harm with his performance yesterday. Got to say, I don't know who is coaching our defence, but it is so well drilled and organised, with players like Kilman and Saiss, looking rock solid. Coupled with Coady leading on the field. It seems a perfect platform for a young player to perform and grow.

Is that on the same number of games Gem, I suspect our present 31 is from a lower number of games given the postponements.

Can our squad limit experts enlighten us as to how Gomes slots in, not home grown or under 21 so presumably, he takes a squad place.

Yeah, we had played 22 games by now in the 19/20 season.

Bruno has surpassed any points total that Nuno had after 20 games in the Premier League and has fully justified the decision to replace Nuno.

Likely takes Shabani's place in the squad list.

Seems that Gomes could fit in the squad. Just a matter of whether our owner would be upsetting his wife if we recall him from his loan now. Maybe we could loan them Dion Sanderson as his replacement
