Given the relationship between wolves and grasshoppers I think it’s more about mutual agreement than control
There will be mutual agreement there, but if it benefits Wolves to sell Kawabe in 12 months for £1.5 million or to recall him for commercial reasons, I'm pretty sure Grasshoppers won't be able to stop that.
Not that it matters much (to us) I'd be happy for less overseas loans, would rather our youth go and test themselves in the Championship or league one
Gawd knows how many players Chelsea have out on loan nowadays. Limitations could result in more clubs having ‘marriages of convenience’ like Wolves have with Grasshoppers but they won’t be able to benefit from so many loan arrangements
Speaking of overseas loans, I see that Leo Campana has gone on loan to MLS club Inter Miami for the remainder of the season.
The club is part owned by David Beckham. Phil Neville is the head coach.

Reports suggest that it seems ‘inevitable’ that Donny Van de Beek will be leaving Manchester United this month.
It’s said that #Wolves, Newcastle and Everton have all held talks with Manchester United regarding a possible move. [source: Algemeen Dagblad via Sport Witness]
decent player though, did really well at Ajax before he just didnt fit at united
I wonder when the club buys these players whether they have a definite plan for them, Campana for instance. Was he bought with the intention of being shipped around the world gaining experience until an optimum point came where he could become a saleable, profitable asset. Or are all players brought in with the prime intention that they will one day progress to the first team? I suspect that the answer lies between those two, many if not all nowadays are recruited on the basis that they have potential to improve and at the right time the decision is made whether that potential should be realised at Wolves or elsewhere.
Feels a bit hit and miss for me and we're not really yet at the point where we can judge whether many of the loan wanderers will make the grade. Gomes could show that it could be possible though. What bothers me is that for the likes of Campana, Ronan, Buur, Bonatini etc, it's akin to third party ownership by another name. The club owns the players rights but has no intention of letting them near the first team, keeping hold until they can attract a buyer. I guess these new FIFA rules are designed to discourage this.
I dont think it will be a bad thing personally, it means better freedom of movement for players that otherwise might be barred from moving to rival clubs, and allows them to settle and develop their careers without wondering where in the world they're going to be shipped off to next. And hopefully for us will concentrate the minds of our recruitment team on first team acquisitions rather than feeding the loan system conveyor.
its deffo a halfway house, some signings you see and you know instantly that it's a first team addition, the others I think are hedging our bets, like Rafa Mir I think the intention was always there to get him in £1m knowing we'd never lose out financially, if he makes it for us great, if not its a tick in the profit column
One would assume that Newcastle would comfortably outbid us these days if the those rumors are true. But then if he fancied being loaned out to Grasshoppers for six months, maybe he'd come. I speak to colleagues in Zurich every week, seems very nice out there.
yeah if it allcomes down to cashola then yeah the Geordies have the edge
if he wants a stable team on the fringes of the european places then its a no brainer

Incredibly expensive though. I've been to Switzerland a few times through work and I'm always shocked at the price of everything.
Spiers seems to think Traore going is happening
No doubt not til the last day so we can't do fack all with the money
Beautiful country Switzerland and I've experienced the most spectacular train journeys there in the Alps. But a footballing hotbed it ain't. Only Young Boys and Basel regularly get crowds of over 20,000 and most of the top flight teams average between 10,000 and 15,000. Don't know what crowds Grasshoppers get since they were promoted back to the top flight. But when Mrs Fosun took them over when they were in the second tier they were getting crowds of less than 4,000
Sanderson linked to QPR on loan
Sanderson was always likely to back out on loan. A big surprise that Tote Gomes was ahead of him though.
Do hope that if Sanderson is off again that Gomes will stay with us, otherwise we're back to square one in terms of squad depth

Do think £20m is the least we should be looking for with Traore. I think there is more chance of getting an auction going in the summer when more money tends to get spent and when it appears Barcelona might enter the debate which he has said would be his dream move. But with his contract expiry date getting closer I guess Wolves may be interested in getting the money in the bank now rather than taking the risk that the value would go down in the final year of that contract. Levy of Spurs is a renowned tough and skinflint negotiator though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Levy may be a tough negotiator but they seem to want him more than we want to sell him which makes it easier for us to play hardball, I'd make him stay till summer & ship him back to Spain
looks like it's 20m up front with 2.75m in addons
not bad if that brings in Renato Sanches

Spurs compromise on the cards for Traore?
Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth on The Transfer Show:
"Spurs have made a bid of £15m, Wolves want ideally £25m, but there's a feeling now a compromise could be reached for something around the £20m mark.
"Bear in mind Traore has only 18 months left on his contract. Bruno Lage has come out today and defended the interest of his club, saying in the summer Spurs put a value on Harry Kane's head, and we're going to do the same here."

Tottenham agree Traore fee?
Football Insider is reporting Tottenham and Wolves have agreed a free of just under £23m for Spain winger Adama Traore.
The outlet states the offer includes £20m up front, with £2.75m in add-ons.
We should have stuck out for £25m but I guess we will save money on wages and baby oil!
