Raphinha had an absolute shocker. Ayling wasn’t good at all.

Rodrigo and James though. Rodrigo showed just how good he is. Can see exactly why we signed him. Took a risk on fitting him in because of how good he is. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked. But hopefully we can get more performances like that. I think James being up front helped take the pressure off his press and Villa’s cm don’t really carry the ball either.

To be fair Dan James proved a few wrong

...and so did Rodrigo tonight

Bielsa having a couple of weeks with James really showed today. He still could have been a bit better in key moments. Shot first half from tight range probably should have been pulled back. Was Rodrigo a better option when he hit the bar. With a pre season he could be much better. I don’t think Bielsa wanted him for the player he was, but the player he thinks he can make him.

I must admit I thought James would have a shocker up front. Glad I was proved wrong 😃

Flipping eck wasn't expecting that... Very exciting by the sounds of it. I shall look forward to watching the highlights. Just shows what I know I am very happy to be wrong. Great point and hopefully build on that Saturday.

Yep Couldn't agree more.

James best game if his career so far? I was pushing for Geldhart up front(who still very much has a role to play) but James was a menace tonight. His energy is insane.

Disappointing defensive lapses, but we kept them pretty much chanceless in the second half. Played good stuff throughout. Have to be content with getting a draw from 3-1 down, but feels like we the better team so in the end happy with the performance but a touch disappointed with the result,

Shades of Michael Owen tonight.
