Newcastle have spent around £100m on the likes of Guimares, Wood, Trippier, Willock and Burn. Have they paid over the odds for those players? I think so.
Is it value for money? I think so because it looks like they will make the difference between them staying up or going down
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Another part to this equation is that they are going to bankroll the club, So they can spend what they like, it makes no difference. So overpaying for players means nothing to them.
If we accept Wolves are operating under a budget, even if it considered sizable. It doesn't mean we should just blow it all, trying to achieve some short term success.
We are hopefully building a platform for the long term. which is the way to go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Every club is operating under a budget, just that each one has a different sized budget.
So according to Bombolino, Neves will be leaving and Fosun have had a change in mindset.
First of all, Fosun had a 3 year plan to get us promoted and a 10 year plan to attempt to established us as a top 6 side with European football in mind. We got promoted at the first attempt and we are half way through the 5 year plan.
They also sated, that they wanted to focus more on buying younger players who would either establish themselves in the first team or move them on for any kind of profit.
Only the finance department at the club know exactly how much of the TV money, ticket sales and franchise money we accumulate. We are paying higher wages now than when we got promoted, coupled with renewing contracts, so to suggest that Fosun aren't spending is total bollox. We are currently about -5m in transfer sales, but that could change with Traore at the end of the season and we will end up with a surplus of about 20m. Summer will be the time to look for more talent and with some out of contract we will indeed be looking to fill the void.
Neves, if he does go, will bring in a huge profit for us and if we don't achieve European football, he may want to move on. But we are currently in a good position to challenge for a one of the competitions next year.
This season has been remarkable, considering a somewhat novice coach and him having to cope with a small senior squad coupled with more injuries this season than all the others put together.
Players come and go, that's football and I agree with amiga, in that if the right player comes along for the right price, be it high or low, then the club should fork out. DJ is also right in his assessment that it will take time to fully understand whether some of our recent signing have been worth the expenditure.
Patience is something quite a few on here fail to grasp. We're getting there, but not fast enough for some.
Remember, this is Wolves.

Correct. So the next question is how best to use it. Most would say sitting in 7th, without crazy spending, is pretty good use of it.

Yes and Amiga wants us to spend considerably less than our budget every transfer window
Newcastle will have to abide by the same FFP rules as Wolves so there’s a limit to what they can spend over 3 years. But they like us will be building for the future and staying in the top flight is the vital first step for the new owners so they’ve thrown money at it. Just like Fosun threw money at Wolves to get them promoted.
A budget isn’t just about transfers it’s also about trying to increase the income of the club so the budget gets bigger in the future, and providing a product that makes supporters want to fill the stadium on a regular basis. I like the idea of investing in young talent but jam tomorrow can only be a policy for so long
It's makes me laugh how Wolfie always has to have a nemesis on here who he gives a nickname. You wouldn't have thought he was a pensioner.
We've had the likes of Fu Man Vu, Sonny and Bombolino to name a few. My personal favourite is the nickname he gave TBC though.

not sure where you want me to start with this?
1) So according to Bombolino, Neves will be leaving and Fosun have had a change in mindset.
Sunny, I said when, it's kind of an open statement this summer, next January, the summer after all comes under when. I can move goalposts too
yes Fosun have changed their way of business, are you really unable to see how we've gone from being proactive in the transfer market to now selling first buying second? maybe im wrong and by some shock you're right though.
2) They also sated, that they wanted to focus more on buying younger players who would either establish themselves in the first team or move them on for any kind of profit.
I look forward to cashing in on the profit for Fabio then, PS do you remember you going at Cinci and I about Rafa Mir being a waste for £1.5m (Cinci and I said good business, you said waste)
3) Only the finance department at the club know exactly how much of the TV money, ticket sales and franchise money we accumulate. We are paying higher wages now than when we got promoted, coupled with renewing contracts, so to suggest that Fosun aren't spending is total bollox.
Are Fosun spending out of their own pocket to cover this or is it it coming out WWFC's accounts based on premier league income? I don't think they've injected any real cash of their own hence them taking covering loans against the sale of Jota.
4) This season has been remarkable, considering a somewhat novice coach and him having to cope with a small senior squad coupled with more injuries this season than all the others put together.
Leicester have more players injured than us
5) Remember, this is Wolves.
Thanks for that, I had actually forgot which club I support
Newcastle you would hope would abide to the same FFP rules. I'm not sure they will.
But you are right, Fosun are creating a foundation for Wolves to build on. Increasing our revenue streams is a huge part of that.
This shows Fosun understand the financials, and are doing a lot of good work moving the club forward. Not just building for the now, but the future.

our FFP issue was qualifying for europe wasn't it? because of the accounting time-frame, so yeah Newcastle will also have to follow those guidelines or risk not being able to enter said competition should they qualify
Never mind all that, lets rejoice collectively in the joyous news that Bruno has a fully fit squad to chose from on Sunday. Everyone is available including Boly, Jonny, Mosquera and ladies and gentlemen, Pedro Neto.

ive only been waiting years
Think i need to delay catching up first thing. Not got out of bed yet and my head is fried
Be great to see Neto get a run out from the bench. Not sure I’d have been confident about us being in the top half with him not featuring until February. Be like a new signing as they say, and a multi million £ one at that
yeah be great to have him on the bench, scared to bring him on tho but the pop he'll get from 30k+ will be immense when he warms up
I don't want us to rush Neto back to be honest. I'd rather us take our time with him and Jonny over the next few months.
Think he has been bulking up as well. Be great to see him, just hope he is fixed or we won't be able to cash in for a profit and would have to put him in the bad signing bin.
Great achievement by Bruno to take us this far but soon he’ll have a new headache, who to pick
Few decisions to make this Sunday even. Do we play 2 or 3 in central midfield. If three certainly Moutinho will come in for Cundle. But if two then Dendoncker would be unlucky to miss out after playing so well at Spurs.
Then it’s two or three up top. Definitely Raul but there’s a choice now between Podence, Hwang and Trincao to play with him. If one I suspect Podence as it was at Spurs. If two then I think maybe Hwang not Trincao.
And we’ll have the strongest bench we’ve had for a long long time
Lesta have been leaking goals so for me we have to get at them hard and fast early doors before they settle...Podence, Raul, Hwang up top...
Encouraging interview with Neves... https://twitter.com/wolves/status/1494689599700049926?s=21
Three up top for me in this one. Home game against a leaky defence.
I'd expect it will be Neves and Moutinho in the middle. Jimenez and any two of Hwang, Podence and Trincao supporting him.
