What a nailbiter that was! But we should have been out of sight. Cashin was amazing. I said some months ago that he reminded me of Toddy and that was so evident today. Brilliant passer of the ball, quick, good in the air and solid in his tackling. Knight was back to his best and I hope he was taken off as a precaution only. Some of Plange's hold-up play was superb but he is not much good in the air. I was hoping Strett would come on but Sibley looked great and caused them lots of problems.
Lawrence was a huge let-down. I'd thought we'd seen the end of stupid tackles but now we have to do without him for three games.
But Davies deserves no end of praise. Not only has he not missed a game but, by my reckoning, he has now played alongside FIVE different centre-backs and never looked phased. Player of the season so far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why were you hoping Strett would come on? Do we really need any help from a self important overweight dog's fan?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's no answer to that!
But I do have an unrelated question. Did that academy lad actually sign for Villa or did he stay with us?

Presume he did from Rooney's reaction.

Maybe there should be an option E ... namely 90+ mins.
@Chicago - Omari Kellyman. Appears to be at Derby still, majority of the talk was of a pending move. Nothing registered.
Reading - What's everyone's thoughts on Paul Ince's appointment? Not the 'Colin' appointment we were expecting but certainly the second part of the anagram. Taken a sheer dislike to him since his days leeching off Mel Morris as a scout of sorts.
Best news ever.
Lots of shouting I’d say on the training pitch and zero impact.
Hope he gets Keane as an assistant
Morning after view :
Well it's p'ing it down here in City Centre this morning....as it was before kick off yesterday - which made the middle of the park difficult in the early stages of the game.
This was a Must Win for both teams although I think Posh were happy to sit back and try and hit us on the break...which they tried on a couple of occasions - without success. Of course when scores are 0 0 there's always that danger that a team can score out of the blue. My big fear was that it would be Marriott....but thankfully I dont think he was on the pitch....
Anyway, as I said Posh didnt really have much ambition so they sat back and defended - which to be fair to them they did pretty well for 89 minutes. The Ref had a field day with his cards and we were lucky the game ended with 10 a side IMO.
So, a packed Pride Park.....supported admirably by 1700 odd from Posh witnessed a tight encounter in which we apparently had 25 efforts on goal, with 5 on target. 1 0 was a fair result and of course coulda been more but for their valiant defending.
1. Goalie. Allsop. Did well as ever with good distribution and his double role as sweeper. Roos must be P'd off with him.
2. Defence. Byrne, Curtis, Cash & Fozzie. Didnt have too much to do TBH but what they had to do, they did well. Cash my MOM today followed closely by Curtis (as ever)
3. Midfield. Birdy, JK38 & Krystian. All did well although I'd say Bielik still not quite up to speed yet. Birdy doing more in and around the opposition penalty area.
4. Forwards. Festy, Loz and Ploz. Festy was his usual self, not a match winning performance from him but did well. Ploz battled away but often isolated or surrounded by defenders. That said he did well. Loz had an early chance as I remember but didn't do much after that. A stupid Red Card under the Refs nose was not what I expected from the Captain.
5. Subs. Morrison, The Pole and Sibs. Morrison didnt really have much time to impress although I seem to remember he laid on the pass for Sibs to score. Sibs back to his best and scored a typical Sibley goal. The Pole. Dont quite know what to make of him yet. Seen him in the U18's & 23's and he's never quite impressed me....but he's tall and awkward and will develop (I hope) with time.
To close I thought Sibs shot was going wide til it went in. What a moment. ....UTR
Thanks Terry

Their goal keeper should have saved Sibley's shot. The chance was on for a right foot shot but he moved the ball for a left foot shot which had little chance of going in. Very fortunate but when a team has 25 shots at goal you can expect a lucky break.

Well at least everyone at Reading will know the first name on the team sheet. My initial thoughts are good for Reading. If there weren't any disgruntled players in the dressing room there soon will be. His alpha male act as the "guvnor" wont sit easy with modern professionals.

Thank you Scouse. I have now seen The Neptune!
Another game that left me feeling shredded. I was really happy when Sibley came on as our first sub because it felt like an ideal game for him with plenty of space to carry the ball into. Peterborough look a hopeless team that ought to go down for sure. Can't take anything for granted but ti is starting to look like a scrap between us and Reading for third bottom. I don'tt hink I would be thrilled as a Reading fan or player to learn that Paul Ince is the new manager - that's a bizarre appointment which suggests they can't afford Warnock, he has no interest in the job, or that the owners know nothing about Championship football.
Cashin was a revelation. He is young so is bound to make mistakes at some point but he was an absolute natural. If we are to play out from the back then having someone comfortable on the ball is very important in that position. It is tough on Stearman but surely he must keep his place on Wednesday.
Rooney's handling of Lawrence is like something Brian Clough would have done. Clough had a shrewd understanding of what makes players tick and he often did the opposite of what might have been expected. It was a terrible lapse in judgment by the captain and he is so lucky it didn't cost us the match. Lawrence has had a terrific season and the best thing when he comes back is that he gets the support of the fans. It is vital we stick together - this is what has got us to where we are, with a very real chance of pulling off the miracle.
Vidal ... as always, well made points. Ince is a really strange choice. I know he watches Tom play as often as possible, so can only assume he's had a chat in the hospitality suite and said "I'll stand in for 15 games to get myself back in the spotlight". A bit like "I'm a celebrity" he's got nothing to lose.
It might work for him, but his character in previous jobs suggests not. Fingers đ¤
