Lead singer was a complete bell but their music and videos were usually good

Baz, you’re very wrong on Declan Rice but even before I read your article I thought Beastie Boys Sabotage so you get props from me πŸ‘πŸ‘

As a kid I spent 90% of my time watching MTV. (Back when they played music videos instead of reality TV) so you’ve piqued my interest here.

Anyway, here’s my top 10 (in no order)

Beastie Boys : Sabotage
Weezer : Buddy Holly
Guns and Roses : Estranged
Men at Work : Down Under
Metallica : One
Aha : Take on Me
Cars : Drive
Bronski Beat : Smalltown Boy (amazing video)
Verve : Bitter Sweet Symphony
Korn : Freak on a Leash

Physco Killer - Talking Heads

Let's Dance - Bowie.

Probably not the best but definately in my top 10.

Great video. Made in Australia when Bowie came here to live for a few years in the 80’s and fell in love with the country. China Girl also made here too.

Sone good choices in there. Buddy holly was a great idea for a video. Oh and I’m not wrong on rice but that’s for another thread.

I don’t think I’ve seen smalltown boy. Of 80’s stuff that belouis some with imagination, that video is great (uncut one) for obvious reasons

REM - Imitation of Life, you could watch it a dozen times and find new little bits... So cool.

Chemical Brothers - Let Forever Be... Similar levels of planning and production as the REM one.

Johnny Cash - Hurt. The video is heartbreaking, especially as you know he died just after.

Yeah, and the photos of his wife and past. Ironically it’s the only song I like of his (hate country music) and he didn’t write it- owns it now though it’s beautiful

I didn't know until recently, but some of the lyrics in that relate to the movie Dune - "If you walk without rhythm, you won't attract the worm"
