Pogba had a good game and in a position which isn't his own. I wonder what people watch sometimes, if your eyes don't work then the stats tell a different story to the agenda.

74 minutes played
77 touches
53 (90%) passes completed
2 long balls completed
7 dribbles completed 🥇
10 duels won
1 foul won
1 interception
3 clearances
9 recoveries

Bruno was 10x worse and has been for a long time.

All of that and he was still trash

United's best player.

Full stop.

Wouldn't blame him for wanting to leave though.

Pogba was poor today but

1) He's fasting for Ramadan isn't he?
2) He spent much of the time playing as a *single* pivot in the absence of an elite DM in the squad, and McFred unavailable.

Chill on the abuse towards Ramadan, no need for that.

However, I don't think Pogba is the right fit for our club and needs to leave.

5 goals in the league over three seasons

Probably much more to do with this. I honestly don’t know why people are still defending him. Don’t have to be hateful and vitriolic either but he’s nowhere near as good as he should be, as his price tag denoted or as we need him to be.

It was time to go about a year ago when we could have got £40m or something for him. Now it’s free transfer again, last big pay day for him and his fat mess of a handler.

yeah, that's definitely how i judge midfielders, solely by their goal output. best not mention assists i suppose, given that he's our leading assister in the league this season - despite having missed half the matches - and has as many this season alone as fred and mctominay have in their entire pl careers, combined.

and he shouldn't need "defending", given that he's one of our players, and one of our best players, but presumably the reason that people do defend him is because some people on here (and elsewhere) are absolutely f@cking fanatical and rabid in their hatred of him. this combic book clown, for instance, 5 of his last 8 articles are designed, either wholly or in part, to have a dig at pogba; and anyone with a spare 6 months should check out se85's contributions to redcafe (nou_camp99), i would think by now he has over 1000 comments in the various pogba threads, and that's even after picking up a ban for being just a bit too weird about the player.

The 18 assists? Over three seasons?

Bruno has 24

Are you actually trying to justify £89m Pogba’s performances by comparing him with Scott McTominay & Fred?

Good lord mate….

I agree with you on ab rabid hatred element. But over his United career, he hasn’t been good enough at all and given the circus that comes with him, he needs to go not get a new bumper deal to make him the highest paid player in the squad.

why would i not compare a midfielder's stats to those of another midfielder? and why would you compare a midfielder's stats to those of a number 10?

if i wanted i could compare pogba's output as a midfielder to every other midfielder in the pl, and he would come out behind only de bruyne over his entire united career - more productive per 90 minutes than, say, gallagher this season, or grealish over his last 3 golden seasons - but apparently these stats only count for some players, but not for others.

when played in a more advanced role pogba is every bit as productive as fernandes, so some of you lot should maybe spend more time figuring out why a player who began the season in a free, advanced role, and set a pl record with 5 assists in his first 2 matches, was then moved back into a midfield 2 in only his 3rd match, and ended up as a lone cdm yesterday (and looking at the two goals, he really was a lone midfielder, lingard and fernandes were nowhere to be seen on the 2nd goal at least).

but hey, fred's a plucky, scrappy upstart who only cost £50m, so no wonder we don't see constant articles on him. and god knows how many articles we would have seen on this piece of play alone, had it been pogba involved and not fernandes:

To be fair Bruno receives a ton of flack as well on this board and rightly so, he's been crap.
Pogbas also been crap.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
these are quotes from comic book clown's last 8 articles, let's see if bruno receives as much flack as pogba:

(pogba) he continues to play like a sunday league amateur footballer

Very different from one or two of our so-called "world class" players at United who look more and more like sunday league footballers every time I see them.

Strolling around the pitch like a fecking testimonial (who could he be talking about? let's see if there are any clues in his previous articles)

Now we have to suffer with Pogba strolling around the pitch in his weekly testimonials (ah, here we go)

Something called Fabien Delph looked like Pirlo out there against our "world class" star Paul Pogba

Pogba was his usual absolute abysmal self again. Couldn't be bothered at all. That's our "world class" player apparently.

and on bruno: He's been arguably our most consistent and most productive outfield player since he joined the club.

yeah, definitely equal in terms of the flack that each player receives. please find me the article on here for instance talking about bruno's wild pass that led to watford's penalty, which remains one of the dumbest bits of play i've seen all season.

While I am probably pogbas biggest fan, if our plan is to play him in a midfield 2 or as a cdm then there are players that can do the job better.

Just a shame cause anyone that knows football will recognise that he is an amazing talent in the right setup.

Bruno played as an attacking midfielder and his heat maps show he played on the shoulder of Cavani.

Pogba has played in a double pivot and an ultra defensive Mourinho.

It’s like comparing apples and oranges.

I didn't. Someone else did. If he chooses to give his body nutrition because of some sky fairy nonsense that's his business but it's not an excuse in that case for a poor performance.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I remember Paul putting on some stellar performances for Juve whilst observing Ramadan. He did it on occasions for Utd too.

Fasting is not the cause as long as he takes in the right nutritiets & calories required for a pro athlete, which he probably does.

Fasting shifts the time of day is one is allowed to eat, he consumes the same calories as before. Only difference is he can't consume water as and when he needs it. Whether that impacts his performance pre and post endurance I have no idea, I am not a sports scientist.

Would it impact me as a unfit layperson, yes. Would it impact an ultra fit pro? Who knows.

Paul's performances have been questioned throughout the season so it has to be something else, fasting is not the reason.

I agree. He's just not particularly good. That's been evident over his 6 years at utd.

For me the damning indictment is he has not delivered to the level we all hoped and wished he would. His performance stats may suggest otherwise but I expected more for £89m.

Is that Paul's fault though?

Paul is the signing one marks when you have a solid team, he's the icing on the cake. We have the icing but no cake!
